Professional flutist, loves the quality and sound of this glory flute!
I am a professional flutist and have bought this glory flute several times. This flute sounds very similar to my other flute which is a 1,400 flute. I only take my expensive one out of the house when I play in bands. I play along with karaoke several times a week and prefer this glory model. Perfect sound. Everyone is amazed of the sound and quality. They say there is no way this flute is under 100.00 bucks. I use to pay 69.00 but now it is 20.00 more but definitely worth the added bucks. Buy it, you will be so pleased with the quality and sound!

Incomprehensible how such an inexpensive instrument could be soooo good!
My mind is blown. I've played flute practically my whole life. I wanted a practice instrument that I could leave at my city condo so I didn't have to keep carrying my Yamaha with me. I saw this and couldn't believe the price. But I really don't have hundreds to spend on another instrument that will just be used in my practice room. I thought the colors would just be cool. When I received it and took the case out of the box, I looked at the cheap, soft-sided case and, well, I wasn't expecting much. Well I was in for a shock. I put it together and just stared at it. The metallic blue body and brightly polished gold-colored keys were dazzling. Very cool indeed. Now for the real test. I put it to my lips and ran two octaves of scales up and down a few times. Wow. Crystal clear, smooth tone, excellent, effortless vibrato. The pads all seal tightly with the lightest of touch. The keys all work flawlessly. I expected my finger's muscle memory to have a problem with the return spring tension. Not so. Closing my eyes, I can't tell the difference between this little mind-blower and $3000 Yamaha. I played a little Irish ditty. I played a little Bach, a little jazz and a little Jethro Tull. I certainly found a good practice instrument! If you have a good ear, especially that of an experienced flutist, the difference in sound between a really fine instrument and this is very distinguishable. Bottom line... Need a really decent, inexpensive practice instrument? Look no further. Have a child interested in learning the flute? Here you go! For incredibly minimal investment, you could start your child down a path that can provide a lifetime of enrichment. Or, did you play flute in high school or college and just want to see if you have any of that talent and skill left? Here you go! Get one and some music and go play in the basement. You'll be surprised how wonderful it feels to have one of these lovely instruments in your hands and how genuinely fine the sound is.

Excellent flute at an excellent price!
I am a professional flutist and was looking for an inexpensive beginner flute to recommend to beginner students. I tried it out and it plays in tune, has a great tone, and looks beautiful. I was surprised by the quality of the flute for the price. This is not the cheap-o quality flute here. It comes with the cleaning kit which is exactly what every flute and flute student needs, the case is decent and it comes with a shoulder strap too. I purchased this flute from this seller for $69.99 in May 2015, the price has gone up a little bit since then. Considering it is a flute under $100 it is a fantastic deal. If you are looking at this flute - you'll see that it has an offset G and a C foot. This means that the Key named G for the left hand ring finger is a little distance away from the flute instead of inline with the rest of the keys. This is a BONUS feature, as the inline G is tough to reach especially for beginners. I have the offset on all my flutes both Intermediate, and Professional. This is a nice extra bonus for this student flute. The other feature of this flute is the C foot. There are only 2 options here, either a B foot or a C foot. C foot is standard on student flutes. It basically means that the lowest note this flute will play is low C, aka middle C on a piano. This is an appropriate choice when you consider the music that the beginner flutist will learn for the first 3-4 years of playing will not go any lower than this C. The B foot makes it possible to play the low B, one note below C, aka one note below middle C on the piano. The low B note is commonly found in more Advanced levels of music. I know other professional flutists that still have opted to keep the C foot, and not use the B foot. I don't know how long it will stand up to a beginner flutist's tendencies to be rough (dropping, banging it into a music stand), but honestly for the price it is far better than renting, and better than a school-rented instrument. If handled with clean hands, clean mouths so there is no sticky spit put into the flute, gets cleaned with the provided swab-cloth, and fingerprints rubbed off with the cleaning cloth each time the instrument is used it could last for many years before needing a tune-up at the repair shop.

Extremely good flute for beginners at a bargain price
Extremely good flute for beginners at a bargain price. I got this for my kid a couple of years ago. It only had one small piece break after about a year of play that some super glue took care of. I told my kid that if they made it work and stuck with it, I'd upgrade it. After two years of playing with it, they used this cheap flute to make the band team and made it sound good for how cheap it is.

Great sound
It exceeded all my expectations; the sound is excellent. My niece's teachers wanted Yamaha flutes, but this one served her very well. Highly recommended; it just needs regular maintenance.

Flute is cute.
First - the package was left outside my mailbox for the entire world to drive by and see. The box had FLUTE marked on it. And it was drenched. The flute case was so wet inside that I had to lay it open to dry it. Now for the flute itself. Itโs cute, plays -eh ok. Sound is produced for the first 2 octaves. Itโs just impossible to move above high C-D. The instrument isnโt quite airtight. You can hear the breathy/airy sounds on -F,down to Eb. For the money itโs decent, ok as a starter instrument but for $40 more you can get a better quality although not as cute, instrument.

A worth story of excellence for Glory instruments!!!
I bought this not long ago. And just before buying it I had purchased a Mandini key C Piccolo. I had a lot of trouble getting clear tone to come from the piccolo. I thought maybe it was me. But I had absolutely no problem at all with this flute. Just to be sure, I took both this flute and my Mandini piccolo to a repair store to have them looked at. The man I spoke to looked at the piccolo and said it was awfully made. No rolled edges on the key holes, the keys were all Miss aligned, and the pads in the keys were all crocked. Just so you know that's really bad, and rolled key holes help greatly to protect the key pades not only from wear & tear, but it extends the life of the pads and protects the pads from getting cut and damaged from the tops of the key holes. So this kind gentleman then looked at this flute. And in amazement said it was perfect. Best he had ever seen for this price!!! So, I returned the Mandini piccolo, letting them know how poorly made it was, and I listed all that the repair man told me about it, and promptly requested a total refund and sent it back to them, as I was told it would likely cost way more to fix it that I originally paid for it, IF, it was fixable at all. Which he said he didn't think it was. So, Glory, my kudos to you immensely for awesome craftsmanship!!! I put all this here, not only to brag about how awesomely made this flue is, but also to help would-be new buyers to know a few things when it comes to buying a good flute or piccolo. Just yesterday I purchased my new piccolo, and this time I took my business here to Glory! It is due to arrive tomorrow and I am very excited, because I already know that Glory does an excellent jobe when crafting these ever so beautiful instruments!!! THANK YOU EVER SO MUCH GLORY!!!

Addendum to previous review
Sounded great, with acceptable tuning, until I had to play with others in a cold environment - the pitch went to an uncorrectable, unplayable level. Bringing it back to reasonable temperature, the pitch was again fine. This is not the case with my silver flute which can hold the pitch (with minor adjustment) at any temperature.

Great for a beginner or casual player
I am not an experienced flute player. I play piano and I work with music software; I just bought this as a cheap instrument to play casually for fun. So I don't really know anything much about flutes but I'm REALLY enjoying learning this. Maybe it doesn't have the best sound in the world - for this price you can't expect that. But the tuning is good, and there don't seem to be any construction problems. Both the joints and all the pads are secure. It also comes with a good amount of cleaning supplies and a great quality case. The paint on the body does start to scratch off quite quickly but that doesn't bother me. Overall I am very happy with this instrument. I am hesitant to give it five stars simply because I am not an expert on flutes, but I am really pleased with this. I wouldn't recommend it to an experienced player but for a student or someone who plays for fun, it's a great choice. UPDATE 1 YEAR LATER: Still going strong. A lot of the colour paint has peeled off, so if you're going to buy this just because it looks cool, you'll be disappointed. However the intonation is still good, the pads are still in top condition. One of the screws on the arms has a slight tendency to become loose but this is easily fixed with a screwdriver. I've knocked it around a fair bit and it hasn't got dented or damaged at all. Still extremely happy with my purchase! However I've noticed the price on amazon has gone up quite a bit since then, it was 7k when I bought it.
