Is it possible to know the sell by date as of today? (4/15/19). I see this question below, but it's from two years ago.

Funny you should ask ... I recently read an article in reference to 'sell by' dates. It seems a scientist did an experiment on 'out of date' products. He used his own family as Guinea Pigs and for a full year they ate foods, such as canned goods, which were well past the sell y date on the can. No one in the family suffered any ill effects whatsoever. The gentleman suggested the FDA re-evaluate their labeling as we waste a lot of food. A any rate, the custard powder lasts as long as you keep it very dry!

i am not a cook, what do the directions say?

This product is a custard powder that I used to make Namaimo Bars. It just indicated how much to use and that is what I did. Birds Custard powder comes from the UK - there was no custard powder to be found at the grocery stores in my area so ordered it on Amazon. The ingredients are: cornflour, salt, colour and annatto flavouring. Hope this helps.

Is the Nanaimo recipe on the package?

Sorry, no it's not but you can "google" it and find it easily. This is definitely the custard powder for Nanaimo Bars. I made them 3 weeks ago as a little Canadian touch for my daughter's wedding. Hope that this helps you.

Is this the kind you can make by just adding hot water?

No. This is the original custard powder. Add milk or half milk and half water and sugar to sweeten to your taste. It’s great.
