sweet song
This is a nice adaptation of a child's song. It is very sweet. The illustrations add the the book in a positive way. I use with my special ed students.

Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush
I love the CD. I use it with children in the preschool singing and moving to the music. The book illustrations are way too busy for young children, and this book title is really keyed to the use with very young children. Some pages are good with one central picture and children of different nationalities within the one picture taking up the full two pages. However, many pages have pictures with four different children and four different settings all on the same page with no separation, they just all blend together. It is hard for young children to visually sort out all of the information on the page.

Beautiful
My two and four year olds love this book and CD and make me read/sing it with them over and over. We are a biracial family and I appreciated the way that the book presented four different cultures. The family from Africa were presented as living a simple life, but I did not read poverty or unhappiness into the story.

Offensive images about black culture
I found the illustrations in the book " Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush" to be highly offensive to black people. The book features four major national groups. The black character is the only character singled out to be poor and destitute and without modern conveniences when compared to the other national groups. The black child is the only one washing himself outside with a bucket and teacup. The black family is the only family that has to wash dishes outside with a bucket also. The black child does not have a bathroom. Does that mean that all other national groups have bathrooms? In the wash scene the parents are involved or close by caring for their children except for the black child. It is these kinds of subtle images that can make a young black child feel inferior even in this modern age. I would never recommend this book to anyone. I would actually discourage people from reading the book and joining an organization that is insensitive to any particular culture or national group. I immediately returned your book.

Not the best - sung weakly
Not the best - sung weakly. Better than the awful knick knack paddy whack but not as good as the pirates or jungle ones.
