This book is brilliant! Written clearly and concisely and the patterns knit up well. I love it. I read the reviews before purchasing and noted some more negative reviews, but I am so glad I went with the positive ones. I am not an experienced knitter (my mum taught me the basics as a child but have done very little in adulthood - taught myself to cable knit and ‘in the round’ only last year), but I find this book very easy to follow. There are a couple of things that I had not done before( (such as picot castoff), but if I am not fully understanding the written instructions in the book, a quick internet search and watching a video soon has that sorted. I have started teaching Ukrainian refugees to knit and I am happy to start them on patterns from this book soon, as it is so clearly written. Some reviews said about the size of the print being too small and I cannot comment on the actual book as I purchased the kindle version, but I would say that I would struggle with any paper pattern in the evening light, hence why I prefer kindle/PDF patterns so that you can adjust the size! After knitting three of the animals from this book, I have now purchased the second book; Wild Animals (wasn’t originally available in kindle format but now is) and again, I absolutely love it. Only on my first project from that book, but I would say that the patterns are slightly easier (for example the sneakers), so if you want to ease yourself in, maybe buy Wild Animals first. But the results are lovely. All knitted as presents so far, and all very much loved. My aim is to do all the animals from the two books. 😀

Loved this book. Great characters and accessories to knit. I would say this is not for a beginner. Some experience to follow terminology is required. The characters themselves are lovey to knit.

I am overwhelmed by the quality of the patterns in this beautifully illustrated book. The instructions are so detailed and easy to follow. I have been able to achieve fantastic results that have blown away loved ones that I have given the animals to as gifts as well as myself. Through knitting the animals in this book and using YouTube when I came across techniques I hadn’t done before I gained a real sense of achievement. The finished results are so beautiful, especially for sitting on shelves with their amazing dangling legs. The clothes fit beautifully and children (and me) love the fact that they can dress and undress the animals. The animals with tails that fit through the clothes are particularly special. Make more than one and they can mix and match the clothes. The fact that the yarns used are beautiful to knit with are washable is great. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. I’m totally addicted to creating these beautiful knitted animals. The patterns are meticulously written making them easy to follow. I just love them. I have 2 of these animal friends pattern books and no doubt I will be making every single one.

Love that this is based on one body, arms and legs etc but has many different head patterns so useful for making items to sell for charity. Also has some lovely clothing patterns that could be mixed and matched. Would have given 5stars however I find the patterns are printed on shiny paper with very small print making them almost impossible to read (I have good eyesight by the way) and follow whilst knitting. Photocopying the pattern to mark off rows and to read easier etc is also difficult due to the pages not opening easily. Would recommend

Originally, my wife was lent a copy of this book by a work colleague. She immediately fell in love with it, but realised that knitting the animals would not be short term projects. She decided it would be a good idea to have her own copy. Consequently, I ordered her a copy and it arrived within 48 hours. My wife ordered the quantities of wool specified and on their arrival, she began to knit 'George the Dog'. My wife is an experienced knitter, but found the pattern hard going in places. She realised that some of the abbreviations were not standard. She kept a photocopy of the abbreviations page at hand to obviate the need to keep turning away from the pattern (and the risk of losing track of where she was up to!). Despite, occasionally cursing under her breathe, she enjoyed the process and was very pleased with the finished article. She did run out of wool on one of the clothing items and thought that quantities specified in the pattern were too small. She recommends that the prospective knitter gets extra wool, just in case. Overall, my wife thought the book was excellent, but would not recommend it for beginners. PS. She now in the process of knitting 'Holly the Hedgehog'.

Lovely book. Used the patterns to learn some new techniques and use up yarn.

This book is great, the patterns included are gorgeous. I have just started my first one and so far the pattern is easy enough to follow. Lots of photos inside and tips to help. Worth the money for all the patterns inside

I absolutely love this pattern book. I love each animal and their clothing. Some patterns are not for the faint of heart.

J'adore l'auteur Louise Crowther dont les modèles sont tous plus originaux les uns que les autres. Avec ce livre, on s'amuse à tricoter des animaux habillés (il y en a 13 en tout) avec différents styles. Il y en a pour tous les goûts. C'est très original à réaliser, mais demande un bon niveau en tricot. On tricote, on assemble, on coud ! Une très chouette collection très bien expliquée et claire avec de jolies photos. Le livre peut être vu sur Youtube. Alors à vos aiguilles et bon tricot ! Je recommande ce livre qui donne envie de tout tricoter !
