Great for the price! The only problem I have with the kit is the lack of a key way replacement, a full rebuild kit should include a new key way. Other than that it works great and installs as it should.

Works great 35hp mercury outboard waterpump

Replaced the water pump assembly on our 1989 mercury classic 40 4 cyl 2 stroke oil injected with this kit. It pumps water great! Had some extra gaskets in the kit that looked like they were for other models that I did not use. Installed as any water pump goes, not super simple, but they never are. Seems as good as OEM so far. Time will tell. I think that the one I removed may have been original from 1989! So if this one lasts that long I'll be very happy. Materials, quality, and castings / gaskets all seem quite good.

This product does not work in a Mercury 1979 70HP outboard, serial# 5,466,253 as claimed in the description. The mounting holes were off by .030” and slightly splayed out. This is probably because the mold to make these parts is long past their life. One could probably file the holes in a oblong way to may it fit. Next I tried the Sierra 18-3324 part from another supplier and it was better but the metal separator required some filing . . . good luck finding something that really works per spec!Mercury did not change the location of the studs for the water pump so this will probably not work in any Mercury outboards but I will let someone else address motors from the 1990's.The final insult was when I inquired about making the part work the seller lied and said my engine used a different part number which it does not.

Lower housing 1.5 mm larger in diameter than the original. Will not fit into place.
