It was 'suggested' -by a locally renowned psychiatrist- that I take NAC many years ago when I was suffering depression after a long term battle with Opioids and Alcoholism, I had tried every antidepressant medication that he and other Doctors I had seen had in their arsenal. It took some time into my recovery before I actually attempted to remember what it was called, (Yes I was that bad) I even had to call the Doc's office -to no avail- who it turned out had since retired, I did eventually, through my own research come across the name of this wonderful gem of a supplement and EUREKA!! It all came flooding back! I 'flew' to the local health food store (such was my desperation) and paid out the wazoo for some in capsule form and was shocked at how much of a difference it made. There are reviews here abound where you can read about the chemical mechanics of what it is/does so I'll stick with the results: It made a HUGE difference to how I feel! No more slumping around the house with a lack of motivation, alternatively feeling sorry for myself and hating myself for the pain I've caused my loved ones in my disease; I had an elevated spirit, fantastic mood and energy galore! That was many years ago, and I have kept this in my repertoire of healthy habits ever since and have never had a 'bad day' of depression since. Try NAC it will work wonders for you unless you are a very rare specimen with perfect body/brain chemistry which I find, frankly, highly unlikely...

I am very satisfied with the quality and effectiveness of this NAC. Previously I had taken Solgar brand. I bought this because I wanted an option with no fillers and I was opening the Solgar capsules anyway so I could take a lesser dose. The powder is tart. I can take it with my tongue off the palm of my hand in small amounts, or encapsulate it as I have done recently. I take it on an empty stomach before dinner and it aids my sleep. Specifically, it quiets excessive thinking. Reduces nervous picking/scratching at skin also. It would be best taken twice a day 12 hours apart, because the effectiveness only lasts that long, but I only take it once right now. It does chelate minerals out of the body, so don't take more than you need to achieve the desired result and keep an eye on your minerals such as zinc, manganese, etc. 5-25-15 Update: I am still enjoying the benefits of this. Occasionally I'll take a second dose in the morning if my brain seems to need a little help. I forgot to take one night and had a terrible time trying to sleep, so I'll definitely continue to take. Another reason I continue to take NAC is that it helps tear down biofilms in the gut. Biofilms are formed by Candida Albicans and other microorganisms to protect themselves from your body's defenses and medicines that would harm them. If you are battling fungal infections or Lyme, you will need to focus on removing these slimy shelters from the lining of your intestines first, before you can really make an impact with other anti-microbial approaches, including prescriptions. InterFase and Biofilm Defense are two other products I've found to be helpful for this. And diatomaceous earth is invaluable. Back to NAC: Method of taking I'm finding convenient as long as I'm home before dinner is stirring a generous quarter-teaspoon of it into a glass of water. If I'm out, I'll take one of my home-made capsules.

Okay, I just got my order, and I have to say I'm impressed with the speed of delivery and packaging. I can't yet report on any health benefits from this, but I will be sure to update you with my progress. As for what I have observed so far ... first, fair warning, it really smells bad. I mean something crawled in the container and died bad. I almost didn't try it because I was so turned off by the smell. But, the good news is, it doesn't taste anything like what it smells like. I recommend blending it with something, not just mixing it with water and drinking it, but that's what I tried first, because I wanted to know what it tasted like before trying to figure out what to mix it with. It actually has a sort of odd lemon/lime flavor, with just a bit of really acrid back taste. It doesn't linger in your mouth for very long, which is good. And it dissolves really quickly and completely in water, no gritty, icky stuff left behind, and no gritty residue in your mouth. My only actual complaint, other than the smell, is that the bag it is in will not reseal. It has the zip top, and should reseal, but I just can't get it to. I've had to clip it shut. Which is fine, because I'll admit it may be user error - zip top things and I don't get along very well. I just really wish I could get it to seal properly. It looks and sounds like it's sealing, but it pulls open at the slightest touch, so I don't know if it's working as intended. So I'm just double clipping it to be safe. Overall, at this early juncture, I am very pleased with this product. If it has the health benefits I expect, I will be recommending it to everyone I know. :)

Great product

I've had sinus problems for most of my life. They were constantly clogged with thick immovable mucus. Breathing was never easy and I was usually a mouth breather. "Just blow your nose" never worked. It was like silly putty in there. Over the past year or so I developed tinnitus and I suspect it's related to my sinus problems. Then I randomly heard about NAC and decided to give it a try. I'm so glad I did. I've only been using it for the past couple of weeks but I feel completely different. I have more energy and a much more positive attitude, mainly because I can breathe properly now. I can breathe in my sleep, which was difficult for me for years. I would wake up feeling drained because I wasn't getting enough oxygen through the night. Now I wake up feeling refreshed and ready to go even if I haven't had a full 8 hours. Slowly but surely I can feel the pressure in my head subsiding and I think my tinnitus is slowly going away. Although I still experience it, it tends to go away from time to time. I hope it will go away completely at some point. I chose pure NAC because I didn't want any additives that are normally found in pills, mainly stearates. I scoop out about 800 g - 1000 g and mix it with about 3 oz of water and shoot it back. The taste is kind of like sulfury citric acid. Not too bad but not pleasant. It's not a big deal and I just wash it down with some more water. I don't have any side effects now but the first few times I took it I got an upset stomach and some pressure in my head. This doesn't happen anymore. I guess I'm just accustomed to it now. The pressure was probably mucus breaking up. Another side effect that only happed in the first few days was mucus in my lungs would break up and ot made it difficult to breathe for a bit. This was concerning but now it never happens. I guess it was mucus in my lungs breaking up. All in all, NAC has been a minor miracle for me. I can breathe now and feel so much better. If you have sinus problems, you should definitely give NAC a try.

First off, this supplement is probably perfectly good quality wise. The issue is that I cannot imagine a situation where consuming this as a powder is preferable, or even doable. I now know that this protein is sulfurous, and therefore taste and smells like sulfur. Maybe other people can get past this, or enjoy it in some recipe, but I can't. Even putting a tiny amount in a full blender full of a smoothy is slightly noticeable. That is what I am doing with it currently, but it has to be about an eighth of a teaspoon, or less to do so. It will probably take a year to use up the bag, and I'm not sure if it is enough to really be beneficial, but I'll do it.

NAC is a super free radical scavenger in the body and the more inflammation you have, the more you need it. I got this product initially for my fiance to help him with detoxing his liver due to his issues with severe inflammation....and also ended up using it myself. I have gallstones and this makes you tired all the time despite how much rest you get. I listened to a podcast where a PhD fella talked about how NAC is used to increase the detox of the liver and gallbladder. He also mentioned that for people who suffer from asthma that this is a deficiency of Glutathione (and NAC is the pre-cursor to this) in the lungs and that if people had enough Glutathione they would not suffer from asthma. Back to my gallstone issue...since this gallstone thing runs in my family (4 members have already had their gallbladders removed), and because I don't want my gallbladder out, I decided to take NAC every day. I just started taking it this week. While I can't tell you yet how it is affecting my gallbladder, I can tell you that it makes you feel warm (I am always cold) and it makes you feel more energetic and less tired. It does have a sulfur-y taste to it (like eggs) but if you put it in a whey protein shake you will not notice it. What I really like about this product is that it has NO FILLERS in it, unlike most others that I saw online. I am one of those people who is sensitive to fillers (and often allergic) so this product is great for me and I am grateful BulkSupplements makes this fine product.
