Planetary Herbals DGL Deglycyrrhizinated Licorice, Supports a Healthy Stomach Lining,200 Tablets

I have years and years with occasional or every other day GERD or gastritis symptoms..this product works pretty good by healing our stomach problems. I take 2 chewable caplets 20 minutes before eating and 2 before I go to bed..you can add these if you take other medicine like pepcid ac like I do especially before I go to sleep. There good for me !

I had a stressful event and was suffering from GERD (acid reflux, heartburn) so badly that I lost my voice and couldn't even talk for a week. I tried apple cider vinegar, d-limonene and digestive enzymes and nothing seemed to work. I read an article called "The 7 Best Supplements for GERD Sufferers" by Dr. Hoffman (highly recommend) which lists DGL tablets as the #1 heartburn remedy. Within a few days of chewing these tablets 6 to 8 times a day and taking 3mg of melatonin at night, my reflux went away and my voice sounded fine again. Dr. Hoffman says you have to take them several times a day and I think he's right. The taste of these tablets is slightly weird and herbal at first but I quickly got used to the taste and now I consider them to be soothing and delicious. The other brands have sugar or artifical sweeteners and this one is more natural.

I recently switched to Planetary Herbals DGL tablets. I used to use Enzymatic Therapy's brand for years. The reason for the switch was to eliminate the added fillers and sweeteners ET brand puts in their DGL tablets. PH tablets work as well as ET brand tablets, the downside being PH tablets taste is not great (but mild) and the tablets don't dissolve as well in the mouth. To me, no DGL tablet tastes good, as I don't like licorice flavor. You could grind up the tablet and put it in something like apple sauce to get it down faster like some other posters have stated but I think perhaps you miss some of the benefits of taking DGL tablets in that manner. For the tablets to work their best, you are supposed to let is slowly dissolve in the mouth... mixing with your saliva and letting is "go down the hatch" slowly that way. Anyway, in my opinion, DGL is far more beneficial and safer than taking OTC and prescription medications for heartburn/GERD/ulcers. For me, I take it for 2-4 weeks (at least a week after experiencing any symptoms) and I will not have a reoccurrence for months at a time.

I used to use these years ago and am now beginning again since they are effective for a healthy gut. Taste is very tolerable and they do work for me.

This is the best quality DGL I have experienced so far. So many DGL tablets contain a lot of other ingredients but these seemed much healthier in that respect, so I tried them. Tablets have a natural licorice flavor and outperform the thin tasting, sugary, artificial taste of other DGL tablets. These tablets dissolve slowly for prolonged flavor, yet are soft enough to chew without any sugary texture. They really taste just like licorice, without other flavors added for enhancements. The best you can find in dissolvable DGL tablets, in my opinion.

Worked to soothe my stomach but tasted like vomit, blech, won't buy again for that reason.

The effectiveness amazes me. It helps to prevent stomach upset. Worth the price.

This stuff should be regulated or, better yet, taken off the market. At the very least, it should have a warning label with side effects listed, as all prescription medications must have. It contains sorbitol and mannitol. These are drugs which are prescribed to treat serious medical conditions, such as kidney failure. They are laxatives and diuretics. They cause severe gas, bloating, and diarrhea. I've been taking it for only 4 days and have been very sick because of it. I'm sending it back for a refund. All other brands are probably the same. It does taste terrible, too. Don't waste your money. This is the first herbal "digestive aid" I have ever tried, and I tried it because of crap I read on the internet. Don't believe everything you read, on the internet or anywhere. Stick with a healthy diet and a good gastroenterologist, a real doctor. I won't fall for this again. I'd rather put up with occasional heartburn than feel as sick as I do right now. I'd give it negative stars if I could.
