Handy tool to have!
Amazing tool to have! Super smooth winder. If only it comes with different finishing. The only sound you can hear it’s from my Caydo electric winder. Both works perfectly together. Great workmanship ship and folds away conveniently into the box. It doesn’t shake and secures nicely on my island. On the pricey side but I would say it’s great investment compared to using your chair or knees. Don’t have to deal with knots or tangle issues.

Looking forward to my next project!
This is a great swift, super solid and high quality. I spent a long time deciding to buy one and glad I paid a little more for this one. My local yarn store has one of these for customers to use and it’s in great shape even with heavy use. I bought it as a package w the KnitPicks ball winder.

Quality built
I have been so impressed with this winder! It winds smooth as silk, it’s quick, and makes it so easy to attach my hanks of yarn. I haven’t had a hank not fit it yet, and once on the winder, they never slip. This is beautifully made and there are no slivers of wood that could snag your yarn. It is shipped in an overly large, bright orange plastic, mesh-like “umbrella” cover which may be intended to dispose once you receive the package, but I trimmed mine down a little and use it as a way to protect the winder when I’m storing it between uses. As. winders go, this isn’t the cheapest, but nor is it the most expensive. What I can tell you is don’t spend the extra money for something that is supposed to look like a piece of furniture, when it isn’t going to do the job. This winder is good looking, and most importantly, will do the job it’s made to do with the utmost perfection.

Time saver!
I bought yarn skeins in a bundle and fought with the first three skeins. After seeing recommendations for getting a yarn swift /steiner, I started searching. I already have the Knit Picks yarn ball winder, so I decided to match brands, and it was on sale (bonus!) I followed the directions on the box to assemble and mount it on my table (only a couple minutes). I added the skein and was winding a yarn ball in no time. Tip: With my skein, I had to rotate it a couple times since the yarn was gently wound around the skein instead of staying on just the 'outside'. I had the whole skein wound into a ball within 10 minutes! Ease of use, value for the money, works well.

Does what it's made for, can be a bit noisy at times.
Works great so far, did start getting a bit louder after a few uses but still performed great

love, love, love this
This swift is a great value. It is attractive and easy to use. The table attachment is stable. The arms open smoothly and the locking ring is easy to set. Be careful with the umbrella-like arms. While not fragile, they will not withstand manhandling.

Yarn winding joy, wish I'd bought this sooner!
Have coveted a wooden swift for years, after admitting that I could never afford an Ashford one. Even this good quality one was, I thought, a purchase too far, even though I know the yarn brand. So, I bought a cheaper version/copy only to cry real tears and swear very long and loudly when it totally destroyed a 800m skein of alpaca and silk blend laceweight yarn that cost more than I'll ever admit to spending on yarn! Then went in search of quality. This gorgeous little beauty was on offer at a really, really good price, and just threw itself into my basket, ooh bliss. It's solid as a rock, with beautifully coloured wood, not sure of which tree, but it's smooth to the touch and you can't help but stroke it. I don't know if it's because I have issues with my hands (OE in all joints) but I found it did take myself and DH to attach it to the table. I held the swift as he tightened the substantial locking screws, and then it was quickly and solidly attached, I did place a folded towel between the table and swift to protect the table, as there is nothing inside the mouth that attaches to the table, but I would have done that anyway and once tightened it wasn't going anywhere, in fact it seemed more stable with the towel. I then placed a skein of laceweight on the wings and extended the umbrella to get the correct tension for the length of skein, there is good variety of levels than can be achieved for varying skein lengths and thickness (DK, 4ply, lace etc), DH then tightened the umbrella screw and I was ready to fly? DH took one look and says, "It's broken?" No it's not that's the tension arm! Watch this. With heart in mouth and with the swift now loaded with 800metres of silken beauty, I untied the knots that keep then ends together, set up my ball winder found the start end of the skein, fastened it to the winder and closed my eyes as I set it turning, I hadn't appreciated the width of the wings and they caught my hand keeping the tension from swift to winder as it turned but after minor adjustment moving winder and pulling off more yarn manually before setting the winder going, off we set again, within 10mins, maybe less I had a perfectly formed centre pull doughnut shape ball of laceweight yarn. It's a fluke I said, that can't have just happened, no stops for knots, no tangles to cause grief, no loss of tension and having to stop to adjust, no wobbles, or helicopter take off vibrations, just smooth and swift ball winding joy. I tried again, with an even more expensive skein of laceweight......and wound faster to see if it stayed still and didn't vibrate...it did and it didn't vibrate and .AGAIN in less than the time it takes to knit a row of complicated lace I had another perfectly formed doughnut of yarn!! Would I recommend YOU BET.. A word of caution... If you've never used a swift before, take your time and learn how it works, use a yarn skein that doesn't cost an arm and a leg, and definitely complete your purchase with a decent ball winder. You will never go back to using DH's arm, chair backs of god forbid try to wind using your knees or on your lap, believe me I've tried them all ,l even once tried it round my neck< don't even go there, not unless you want to look like the fly caught in a giant web? Buy this you won't be disappointed!

Klare Kaufempfehlung!
