What is the general age group this is for? I have a 6 year old nephew. thanks.

I bought this set for my 3 year olds birthday party. It had different height settings. If your nephew likes football, he'll love it. We had a wide range of kids from 2-10

Is this tall enough and strong enough to hang an inflatable tire between the posts?

It could be. Depends how big of the inflatable tire is.

is the football suitable for 12 year old? What size is the football? Thank you

The size of the football is definitely not suitable for a 12 year old. Not sure on the exact size of it, but it's even too small for my 4 year old son to throw. Great set but we use a regular nerf size football instead of this. It works for my 2 year old daughter to play with.

how wide is it field goal posts

On the one I purchased, the posts are 4 ft apart; the support post adjusts from 4-6 feet in height.
