Ollie's Easter Eggs (Gossie & Friends)

This was supposed to be a new book, but the back binding has scratch marks all down the book. The color was purple but the scratches are all white. There are 3-4 lines dug into the front of the book creating cross marks. I am disappointed if this is considered a new book. It's also a gift for my nephew. I might have been less disappointed if it was for my own child d not giving it to someone.

I'm rather conflicted about this series of books by Olivier Dunrea. My two year old loves them and instantly recognizes any of the "Gossie" books as she calls them. We own probably 4 of the books, and my daughter often wants to check out more from the library. Here's my issue - the message is not the best. So, in this book Gossie and friends are coloring Easter eggs while Ollie basically steals them. This is not the first book in the series to have that kind of storyline. In Gossie (the first book we purchased), the main character loves to wear bright red boots and then one day they are missing. As it turns out, Gossie's "friend" took them and in the end they end up sharing the boots. Uh...what? I don't want my two year old to think if she wants something she can just take it from her friends and everything will be okay. Nor do I want her to think it is okay if her friends were to just take her stuff. The bottom line is I don't know that I will buy any more of the books from this series.

I've enjoyed thus series so much! Well made board books and perfect size for toddler to hold. I highly recommend them. I can't wait to buy.tge.holidau themed ones too.

We love the Olivier Dunrea gosling books! Even my 8-year old enjoys reading them. The text is simple, so it keeps my 2-year old interested and it is also good for my 4-year old to practice reading. My 6- and 8-year olds enjoy reading them to their little sisters and I enjoy the stories and don't mind reading them repeatedly so it's win-win all around! The illustrations are simple with bright colors and the books follow a very simple story. Highly recommend! We own about 4 or 5 and I'm slowly working toward getting the whole set.
