Thoroughly enjoyable cartoon series with great storylines and characters
I am quite new to the My Little Pony - Friendship is Magic series. I initially started watching out of curiosity as the first four seasons were being shown regularly on satellite TV, returning to season 1 after the last episode of season 4 in a repeating loop. Recently season 5 has started to appear as well on TV in this country. I really did not know what to expect but my expectations were not very high. How wrong I was! Could I buy them to keep? Yes!I find the series to be very well written, and that the characters develop as you move through the seasons. The story lines are good and coherent, with a general theme running through each season, and the episodes tie in with each other. I like the overall theme about the importance of friendship, and that although it requires working on difficulties that occur, it is worth fighting for.So now to season 4 where Twilight Sparkle has become an alicorn and a princess, and the theme is how she comes to terms with her new role and responsibilities.I enjoyed the stories in this season, but felt that the general feel was darker than before. I would think that this has been done to enhance the experience for the adult viewers that the series has attracted, but it does change the dynamic a little. Maybe just to acknowledge that the original viewers are also growing older with each passing season, and so to retain interest. Either way I find it easy to relate to the well written characters, and some new ones appear in season 4.The one slight criticism I have is to wonder if one of the plots (yes the finale) is rather too dark for the original intended audience. Fine for bronies but for younger viewers? More Dragonball Z than My Little Pony in that particular episode I think.I thoroughly recommend all the four season sets that are available, but recommend starting from Season 1 and viewing in order. I was surprised but delighted to discover that the season sets were available on DVD.

The show may have been made for little girls, but anyone can enjoy it if they give it a try. That's the TRUE magic of the show!
I absolutely adore this show!!! It is the best show on TV. The characters. The stories. The wonderful voice cast. The amazing animators. Even the music! I'm not a fan of musicals, but I love the songs in this show! Its one of the few shows on TV that will teach you(NOT JUST KIDS) but you a lesson. It promotes love, tolerance , and friendship for all. I was bored last year, and I watched My Little Pony Equestria Girls movie. That's when I fell in love with the series. I stared watching MLPFIM during its fourth season, and I never stopped. I really enjoy the show. Its a fun show that is fun to watch! It really is! I soon found season one on DVD in stores. After that I ordered season two from Barnes And Noble. I bought season three from Amazon months ago. I LOVED IT! When I saw that season four would be available for preorder in Sept I jumped at the chance to buy it and complete my collection. The show may have been made for little girls. But anyone can enjoy it if they give it a try. That's the TRUE magic of this show.

I love the show/seasons
This is why I gave MLP:FIM 5 stars...because true friendship is magical! I love the show/seasons, because it teaches you the meaning of friendship, caring, kindness, truthfulness, Etc.. There is one pony on the show that I can relate to and its Fluttershy! She raises animals she's somewhat shy, (where I'm all out going) and has the cutest voice around...so much, that I've started doing her voice...please note, I'm not a voice actor, I do this for my own entertainment and seeing the reaction of shock and smiles on peoples faces, plus its funny that a female does Bart Simpson, so, why can't a guy do Fluttershy? I've had 15 people tell me that I should go into voice acting, and I've had them say, " If John De Lance/Discord can do it...then what's stopping you?" My reply, broke and no car! please don't send me any money! As I've stated before, its for my own entertainment and bring smiles to peoples faces, is what matters the most to me! Happy Hearts and Hoof day to you all!

I heard it’s enjoyable to watch AND it also has great messages about friendship, too!
I may be late but I’ve been a Brony (which is what they actually call young adult MEN including me AND middle-aged MEN fans of the My Little Pony franchise just like me) since July 2017 (something I should’ve done a long time ago but then of course, I eventually caught up and eventually saw EVERYTHING) and I absolutely LOVE My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic Season 4/Four ON DVD (I also still have Seasons 1-3 also ALL ON DVD to this day AND I EVEN got my pre-ordered copy of Season 7/Seven ON DVD from Amazon the day it came out four months ago)! Especially my all-time favorite pony characters (for example: Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie)! IF you’re a Brony just like me, then Seasons 1-7 ALL ON DVD are probably for you (I said “probably”)! #Brony #Bronies 😄👍🦄😃👍🦄😄👍🦄👍

My children just love to watch the My Little Pony
My children just love to watch the My Little Pony: Friendship Magic series. We purchased seasons 1-4 all at the same time. The children just cannot wait to turn the DVD player on to see these videos. They like them so much, that it is difficult to pull them away for meals, chores, and homework. For the most part, the series teaches all sorts of valuable lessons on Friendship and Character. The only downside, is that my kids have picked up a couple phrases or terms that we are not so impressed with. Like, "Oh pooh!" One pony uses this and now we have a hard time getting them to stop. Though you would think this series would be strictly for girls, I have seen many young boys (PreK thru about 2nd grade) enjoy the series.I have watched several of the episodes and have found them quite engaging. They are action-packed. They pack more character lessons in them than the older My Little Pony series that my kid sister grew up watching.

Let’s watch it again!
I despised MLP when I was a kid; did it get better? The Friendship is Magic series is fantastic. The show never talks down to a lower level for children which is both what helps me teach my kiddo a wide array of descriptive words and will also keep me interested. Isn’t it nice when you can enjoy whats on the TV repeatedly?

Awesome season
This is probably second best season after Season 5, which is only due to the sensational moves Season 5 does. This has a reputation as the fan-favorite season, in contrast to the previous season (which I thought was good). We get a season-long arc involving the Keys of Friendship, leading into an epic Dragonball Z style fight with G4's version of Tirek, the first ever G1 villain (who was so evil he became probably the first villain to die in a TV cartoon in the 1980s). We also get a few Rarity episodes, which were long-awaited since we didn't get any in Season 3.There were a few flaws, such as the other Mane 5 sending Twilight away to fill the full 22 minutes in the season premier when it would have been easier and better received to show a King Sombra flashback, and the Equestria Games episode is really not worth the wait that Games Ponies Play, Flight to the Finish, and Rainbow Falls put us up to. Ironically while Equestria Games is my least favorite episode, Twilight's Kingdom, which is not only the same season but the next episode, is my favorite. We also get some pretty good songs, including the musical episode Pinkie Pride leading to a reality-bending goof-off with Cheese Sandwich (Weird Al).

Good but missing something
It is missing the episode "Bats!" so I can't give 5 stars but other than that it was great and work perfectly.

A step in the 'fan service' dirrection
Although not quite the write-off Season 3 was, indeed I'd say it captures the magic of seasons 1 and 2 around 65% of the time, this instalment fails to properly expand on the ideas left with us at the end of S3 in any meaningful way, and the writers seem to have succumbed to giving so much fan service by doing things like giving Pinkie lines that could only be contstrued as random humor, but this at the expense of her being anything more meaningful than hyperactive.
