Is there an agitator in washing machine…and does washer lid open on a hinge?

no agitator. No hinge, the pieces just snap together. Not particularly well fitting either

Is there a button to push to make the washer/dryer spin?

Yes there is a button on the back with your turn and it starts spinning

This item is not wood. Nonetheless, my daughter loves it. I love the fact that, at such a low cost, I was able to create a laundry room in my daughter's dollhouse, ironing board, iron and all.
