Wii Mini Cooling Fan Dragon

I'll begin by saying that normally the Wii doesn't need a cooling fan, as it has one internally. I bought this because the cooling fan in my Wii stopped working. If you're in that situation and don't want to risk opening your wii to fix it, this is the next best thing. It circulates air well. it's a little bit noisy, but you probably won't notice if it's across the room from you. It turns off when you shut the Wii down, but will not turn off if you just put the Wii in standby mode. You must turn the wii completely off until the power light is either red or off entirely. You can however switch the fan off with a switch on the back. This isn't a deal breaker though.Form factor is hit and miss. it connects to both USB ports on the back of the Wii, but has two USB ports on it as well so you can still plug other devices in. It mounts very strongly to the back and won't come off easily thanks to those double connections. The back of it is also molded to grip the vent grating on the back of the Wii. It doesn't protrude out of either side either. The only downside is its shell extends a bit too far down, and may get in the way of connecting some 3rd party video adapters, such as an HDMI adapter. I had to shave a little plastic off the bottom to get both to fit securely. Keep that in mind if you plan on using something other than the standard video cords on your Wii.Aside from the minor gripe about its size, and it not being able to shut down without turning off the Wii or the fan manually, and that you don't really need it unless the Wii's original cooling fan breaks down, it does what it's supposed to, and that's all I ask.

Opened the package & plugged it in. Worked great for the first 5 or 10 minutes, then it got SUPER loud. Louder than my tv. Unplugged it and will NEVER use again. Like every other clip on usb cooler for every other console, this one also uses cheap fans that quickly get so loud that you have to crank up your tv just to hear it over the usb cooler. From a hardcore gamer's point of view, these usb coolers are TOTAL GARBAGE!!! I was surprised how quiet this wii usb cooler was when i turned it on. Was even more surprised, and equally angry, at how quickly it became really loud. It didnt even make it a full 10 minutes before i unplugged it. There is a freeway behind my house, no sound barriers, so i have to have my tv volume pretty loud. And this wii usb cooler was louder than my tv.

I thought this thing looked cheap and bought it as a last hurah to save my Wii. It turns out that it is genuinely wonderful and let's me play my Wii without overheating and shutting down. 10/10 product, get one if your internal Wii fan doesn't work!

I bought this for my girlfriend's Wii since her internal fan ceased to spin and would leave the wii shutting off suddenly due to overheating. Now that she has this new cooling fan, her Wii has yet to emit any noticeable heat at all. I should have bought one for my Wii too.

Our Wii fan stopped working and I am not mechanically inclined to take it apart so we found this. It is a little loud but it works perfectly. It keeps the Wii cooled enough so my kids can play it

It was a simple solution for a few bucks without me having to order an internal fan and opening the Wii's case.+ 4.5 stars for okay air flow.- 2.5 stars for making a PC fan noise that can drown out quiet sounds and conversations when watching Netflix on the Wii. We have to turn up the TV accordingly.I'll use this one until I can pay a visit to Vintage Stock to see what they have so I can listen to one before purchase.
