Good, Big, Fast Thunderbolt 2 Drive
Works great so far. Have it running on a Asus ThunderboltEX II expansion card. Haven't benchmarked it, but seems fast.

Runs like a pure champ until it goes corrupted in the end.
Not really reliable but it runs very smoothly for 2 years, you must have a backup HD for this LaCie 6TB. Why I say a 6TB Backup HD? I know it cost money but because my LaCie 6TB just got corrupted without warning and is now brain dead and won't show on my MAC Desktop anymore.The LaCie Hardware itself is still working and running fine as if nothing is wrong, the Utility Disk won't fix this problem, most repair softwares I bought didn't work either, I am a nervous wreck right now but keeping it cool.It seems the only option is to perform a Data Recovery which isn't effective on gathering all loss files especially if it's going to be nearly 580GB of VST music samples and media files like mine. The agony right? Lastly, to reformat the corrupted HD and reuse it again in a clean slate.Good luck on you're purchase.

Faulty thunderbolt controller
I'm disappointed with the quality of this drive. After setup I tried to backup some files and then suddenly during copying process my Macbook Pro 2014 freezes up and goes to restart. Since that it kept freezing all the time when working with the drive. However I found that it works fine through USB interface. Went to Apple store's Genius Bar and have verified with their technicians that this is thunderbolt controller issue in the drive.Returning back and hope the next one will be good one.

Crashed after just 4 years
Mine crashed after just 4 years. Couldn't get anything back using Seagates's software. It's a Seagate product.

Terrific product and brand.
Love this so much I got a second one as a mirror backup. Several techies recommended LaCie as a good, reliable brand. The blue light on this might bother some folks, but I have mine on my desk backwards so the light flashes against the wall, and it only flashes when it is processing something. Sleek, compact, nice design.

Great external drive - Very speedy and Extremely Quiet.
The 7200rpm Drive with the Thunderbolt connection is wonderful. It is a fast drive and very quiet as well. Very pleased with this External Hard Drive. Thank you LaCie for a great item. Fast fast fast!!

Just as fast as advertised!
I've only had this for a week or so, but I am very happy with my choice. The speed of this drive using Thunderbolt is fantastic! Since loading a loot of my files onto it, I am getting a fraction under 200 MB/s - way faster than even my iMac's 7200 rpm internal drive. Would I buy one again? Yes.
