Great door closer - better than I expected!
I bought this Touch'N Hold Door Closer to replace a similar door closer on my storm door. I had liked that product and therefore tried to find the most similar one to it (I can't find a brand on the former closer, which came with our house, so I can't say for sure what type it was). I just installed this closer about a week ago and I'm absolutely in love. I'm going to buy another to replace the non-broken one on the other storm door in our house. Here's why: 1. Great touch-button. Much, much easier to use than my former closer's button. This one doesn't depress into a little well like that one did -- it stays popped up above the closer, so it's easy to tap and seems less likely to break or twist (which is what happened to the other one). 2. Very quiet pneumatics. A gentle hiss sound when it's closed and that's it. 3. Installed right over the old closer's footprint. This was a tight one, as this closer is just a touch shorter even when fully extended (by about 1/2 inch), but I didn't have to drill any new holes, and the hardware matched up well. Even if you needed to drill holes, you'll only need to drill 6 holes and they shouldn't be too difficult as the size of the screws isn't insane. 4. Adjustable speed for closing. This is essential in a house with a baby who is woken up by slamming doors! Works great. A few caveats: 1. I never like the included wood screws for things like this, which seem to strip easily. I usually have a container of better screws that I swap out for projects like this so that I knew they won't strip. 2. Measure twice, drill once -- unless you want unsightly holes in your door, make sure you know how far open you want it to swing, and where you want the hardware to attach.

Excellent Alternative to the Normal Opener!
I will admit that I was somewhat skeptical about this "touch" opener, but I couldn't be happier! It works like a charm... just press the button, open the door to the desired place, and let go... it stays put. To release, just push outward on the door and it closes... exactly as described. If your door has two closers, I recommend using it on the top rather than the bottom. I tended to push down too hard on the button when it was on the bottom, which caused the end cap to come loose a couple of times. No biggie... I just popped it back in and all was well. But after moving it to the top, all has been well. Installation couldn't be easier... it fit perfectly into the existing holding brackets. I just removed the two pins from the old one, took it out, slipped in this new one, and put the pins back in... it took less than one minute. After couple of small turns of the tension adjuster, the door closed exactly to my liking. Gone are the days of trying to get the little sliding clip thingy in just the right place and hoping it would hold!! And on top of that, my door now actually latches when it closes (the old one always took an extra tug on the door handle to get it to latch). If you're looking to replace your door closer, get one of these things. It's worth every penny!!

You will not regret this purchase - absolutely the BEST!!
I have had this door closer on my screen door for over 18 months. It is one of the best products I have ever bought from Amazon (and being in a wheelchair I have bought literally thousands of items!). It just works perfect and was easy to install. I can only guess that the reviewers that are stating that it slams shut in the last few inches must have installed it wrong or did not adjust it properly because it gives a nice slow closure every time. So far it has held up very well to constant use (5-6 times a day for 18 months). If you know someone that has one of the old style closers (with the sliding stop) this would make a great, inexpensive gift and they will love you for it. Just can't say enough good things about it.

easy to use and works perfect for slamming doors
Just what I needed to slow what used to be a slamming outdoor shower door. Only complaint is the bracket coating is corroding badly, I live on the sea and the salt air corrodes everything but aluminium or marine grade stainless, sorry. Glad I bought two.

Surprisingly Great
I didn't know what to expect when trying to replace the noisy and chattering old door closer with a new one. The name brand item that was a perfect replacement was a perfect fortune, so I took a chance on this one. It worked even better than the original, which never quite understood the balance between closing speed and actually closing the door. Oh, and if you get it just right it won't take your foot off as you try to zip through the door. It understands that it has one job and it's going to do it.

When it worked, it was awesome.
This thing is/was awesome. Unfortunately, if it over extends, the switch breaks and is NOT repairable. I have the chain/spring thingy on my screen door, but if a strong wind, or YOU push the door open just a little too far... It breaks.

Good quality aftermarket part
I purchased a new Anderson screen door and the closing mechanism failed within 3 months. For the sake of time I bypassed the hassle of trying to get Anderson to replace the part and purchased this aftermarket closer. It works fantastic! Good build quality at a fair price. I recommend this product if you're looking for a closer replacement.

wich was easy i noticed the door cylinder would not engage until ...
Purchased item based on reviews had read on internet.Replaced old door closer with this model. After installation ,wich was easy i noticed the door cylinder would not engage until the 45 degree mark in doorway. The cylinder would catch in then slowly close correctly. The latch mechanism also worked to hold door open. The issue i had is the door would close so fast until it reach the 45 degree point it would hit you as you are entering into the house. This happens constantly with in turn made me trip coming into the house.I called the manufacture on Monday and was told that no one was in technical support to call back next day.I called Tuesday and talked to Tony and asked if they had issues with there cylinders??He told me to take several pics of my installation and email him and someone would be back with me next day.For ref i own a Mfg company for over 31 years so i think i can install a door closer correctly. No one emailed or called back Wednesday.Thursay i called and talked to Hecktor and told him the situation. His solution was that i had purchased the wrong model and that it was to lite for more screen door as certain screen doors have glass in them and they become heavy. He gave me model # of other model he felt would work.In conclusion DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.This is junk and there is no customer support what so ever,They do not care about the consumer or there product.

Perfect solution to screen door problems
This unit handles both of the problems with screen doors perfectly. It not only closes the door tight without slamming but is adjustable for speed of closing. The hold open feature works exactly as it should for ease of use. The infinite opening position stop works perfectly in a range from moving item through the door to holding it just open slightly for air access. It will hold all the way to 90 degrees, despite what has been written, if installed properly.

The best door opener
Bought this to replace one that failed after about 15 years. The easiest mechanism to hold the door open at any angle, can be tapped with a foot if hands are full, and to close again you just have to open the door slightly further. That last part confuses every delivery person, neighbour, etc, but it works great, and doesn't require even bending down!

Works perfectly
I wish I had bought this sooner. It is well built and seems quite solid. It works perfectly. You push the button to hold the door open at any angle and then give the door a very slight push outward to get it to close. The close mechanism is timed well - not too fast and not too slow. Very happy with this purchase and highly recommend it. It took about 3 minutes to install.
