Great stuff!
If Tolkien is the father of modern fantasy this author is one of his most gifted progeny. His depictions of dwarves, elves, orcs and goblins just ring completely true which is an amazing accomplishment since these beings are both mythological and archetypal. While elves and dwarves are not real in a mundane or plebeian sense we somehow know instinctively when the archetypes have been violated. That never happens here.Despite Drizzt's absurd and ongoing assumption that all of his friends are dead this is a beautiful book. The battle scenes are fast, dramatic, tense and gripping. The conversations and introspections of the various characters are compelling. The pictures which the author paints with his words are vibrant and filled with detail and imagination without ever bogging down or slowing the narrative. This is great stuff! It wasn't perfect. Delly Curtie's endless and mindless jealousy was annoying. I realize there are people who are so insecure that they behave like that but that doesn't mean I want to read about them. It's the kind of thing that makes me want to put the book down even though I was burning through pages a moment earlier. The idea that the four Drow elves' only motive was to have "fun" was a bit of a stretch. In past books Drows were always a lot more motivated than that. And the complete lack of curiosity of Drizzt and his companion about what really happened at the Shallows and what was happening in Mithral Hall was a bit too much. I also got very tired of Drizzt's internal monologues about all his friends being dead. But all in all The Two Swords is so much fun that the annoying parts are forgiven.Highly recommended. Epic in the finest original sense. On to the next book!

Great story
As usual, Salvatore is a great story teller.Suspense, great flow of story. Now "lost time" and great characters with Drizzt and all his old and new friends! To be read if you like heroic fantasy.
