The right choice for me . . . but maybe not for everyone
I love my Steelcase chair and am glad that I chose it after months of research. This is my first splurge on an office chair. However, I want to communicate to fellow shoppers that it may not be the right choice for everyone. It has a narrow build, a firm feel, and a lightweight design -- all things I'm enjoying very much. (The tension in the back support is excellent, too.) If you happen to be in need of a bigger, cushier chair, I would recommend a different option.

Easy assembly very adjustable for best comfort.
Easy to assemble. Just received chair and so far so good. Fits well, comfortable all adjustments seem to be working. I'll update in a couple weeks after using everyday to see if I'm still as happy.

With a Little Added Cushioning, its Great
I wanted to upgrade my office chair, and I kept hearing about how good Steelcase chairs are. This chair is hit or miss with people, but I saw that more petite people like it more. I'm about 5'3" and 135 lbs, so I figured I'd try it, as it's at a more accessible price point than other Steelcase models. I love the modern look of it. I got it in purple, and it matches the decor in my office.I also love how adjustable it is. The armrests mostly stay in place as I work, and I can shift them around when I feel achy. I don't use the recline feature, but I see how people would have wanted a fixed recline. I like to sit with crisscross legs occasionally, and I can do this on this chair at my size, but I do put a stool in front of me to give my legs more room.Where it lacks is cushioning and lumbar support. I have had to buy/make a few things to modify it to make it more comfortable—first, are pads for the armrests, which are very hard. The second is a thin gel seat pad because the seat pan is also very firm. I found that a thicker one threw off the chair's ergonomics. However, even with a thin pad, I still need something to put my feet on for proper foot/leg position, even at the lowest seat setting. Luckily, I have an under-desk footrest for this purpose. The third is a lumbar support pillow, as the lumbar support on this chair is worthless for me. A sliding bar in the back has this weird texture that feels uncomfortable. I saw some people stick a small pillow between the mesh and the bar to fix it, but that didn't work for me as it also didn't come up high enough for my body. Since I sew, I made a small lumbar pillow in the exact size and support level I needed. With these extras, the chair is very comfortable for working and supports me well.

(update) Trying to get a replacement for a defective chair gas cylinder is impossible from them.
01/08/2025 - I finally got a reply form Steelcase. They apologized for the delay in replying, and confirmed I was getting a replacement. I actually got a full chair replacement today, which I both awesome and unexpected as I initially only needed the gas cylinder. Never expected to get a brand new chair. So I'm changing my review form 1 to 5 stars.I bought this chair back in April. I had seen it first in their actual website, and decided to order it here for faster delivery. In November the gas cylinder stopped working correctly. I'm below the weight limit, but it wouldn't hold my weight and would keep going down. Amazon redirected me to the Steelcase wite to contact their costumer support. This was back on Nov. 29.Dec. 2, my ticket gets redirected to their retail email address. So far all I've been asking is to either get a gas cylinder replacement, or let me buy one from them. I'm asked to send them a picture of the label under the seat and a video of the problem in action. Send both on Dec. 4.Dec. 9 - I received a survey email asking me for my feedback. I email them to ask if my ticket got closed. Dec 11 I get a reply, that it was closed by accident and now it's reopened and is being addressed.Dec 12 - got an email saying a replacement was approved and to provide my contact info and address for them to ship it.Today is Dec 20, haven't heard anything from them anymore. I emailed them a couple of times to ask if my ticket was still open and if they provide tracking numbers for the shipment. I get crickets. It's been 3 weeks of me trying to get a gas cylinder replacement because the standard non-brand ones seem to be too thick for the chair's wheeled base, and now it feels like I've been ghosted. I regret buying this chair as I can't do what should be a simple fix, and the maker just ignores me now.

Better than a cheap chair
I like this chair A LOT. I was tired of spending 150 and getting a crummy chair so I decided to invest in one of much higher quality and I'm not disappointed. My work at the computer is easier and I think this chair will have excellent durability (if not, I will update this review).
