The base is approx 2 inch round and holds a 1 1/2 inch square piece perfectly. You can push that size to cover the entire base however

I just use cooling rack like for cakes. Works fine.

Can I use powder glass enamel?

You can but have little control as you cannot see the powder go to gloss. Better off with torch
