For some reason, when we moved to Hawaii we forgot to ship our knife steel with our knife set. I ordered this one. It was one of the lower priced options, so my expectations were not very high. After getting it and using it, I am wonderfully impressed. The grip is comfortable in the hand and easy to grip. The steel itself is well made of quality material and does a wonderful job on our knives. When this one is available at such a good price, why muy the more expensive ones?

This is a pretty long knife sharpener -- too long to fit into a typical knife & sharpener block, so to keep it out of the way, I store it in a kitchen drawer. But if you know how to use it, it puts an excellent sharp edge on your steel knives, old or new. The extra length can be an advantage if you know what you're doing with one of these, especially with bigger knives that can hold a good sharp edge. It's not fancy -- plastic handle, very basic appearance. But I'm quite happy with the way it sharpens. My knives are holding better edges, and longer than with most other sharpeners I've tried.

Nothing fancy, but great quality. Keeps my blades going. It's a great size and sticks to my magnet. Use it EVERY time before you use your knife, and every 30 min to an hour depending on what you are cutting.

My kitchen knives were getting pretty dull this brought them back to tomato slicing sharpness within seconds, feels sturdy, alot beter then i would have though for the price

My husband is passionate about keeping our kitchen knives sharp and loves this particular sharpening rod.

It doesn't really do much for.my knives.
