Great for Making Zucchini Noodles!
I had never used one of these before so I enlisted the help of my friend Allison, who has used the original Spiralizer. We tested a whole grocery bag full of stuff on it and found that it works really well for skinny vegetables. If you like making zucchini noodles, this thing excels at that. We found the Shredder Blade and the Slicer Blade to be the most effective. With very little practice and little effort we were able to make everything from slices to pieces to spirals to noodles. Our only complaints are the performance of the noodle blade and issues with larger items getting caught up in the top of the unit.I have made zucchini noodles before using both a peeler and one of those cone slicers. This thing blows those out of the water. It makes the best Zucchini noodles I have ever had. Now I can start experimenting with potato and other vegetable noodle recopies as well.Using the cutting chart on the back of the box, cutting pieces or slices was just as easy as noodles. Simply make a cut down to about a half inch from the center in one or more places. The more cuts you make, the smaller your pieces will be. In the video we make cored cucumber slices and perfect stir fry zucchini pieces. Now for the issues we had with this product. My thin noodle blade has one cutter head that is bent down slightly. It also seems like the top 3 cutter blades may be in the wrong position or at the wrong angle. Whatever the case all of the noodles we tried to make with it came out with some wide noodles and some thin noodles. Not a big deal, unless you want to cook them, then they will cook unevenly because they are different thicknesses. We also noticed that anything larger than a cucumber likes to get caught up on the backside of the top piece. This means if you want perfect, long spiral sliced potatoes, you will have to go real slow and make sure it doesn't get caught in the top. Potatoes work fine with the noodle and shredder blades though. It's only really a big deal if you want long spirals with potatoes. While this is not a gadget I will use everyday, or even every week, I know many people that would. I will definitely start looking at integrating more recopies with spiral sliced vegetables into my diet.Pros:+ Makes Great Zucchini Noodles and Cucumber Slices+ Easy Clean Up+ Blades Store Inside the Unit+ Fairly Easy to UseCons:- Thin Noodle Blade Has Issues- Larger Vegetables Get Stuck at the TopWatch the Video Review in Full HD Over on My YouTube Channel: GadgetClassI do receive items for review everyday and always do my best to put them to the test so you can make an informed buying decision.
