Great for what it is.
We've had the G-Porter GP-102+ for a few days and find it is an excellent device for our needs-- we wanted a small, light, and accurate GPS primarily to mark our base camp locations before trekking off into the backcountry day hiking to ensure we make our way back to camp if we get turned around. That it also includes barometer, thermometer, altitude, compass, distance, and route logging functions is pure bonus. For the low price, small size, and low weight, we would have been satisfied if all it provided was current coordinates so we could accurately pinpoint our location on a map. This was primarily purchased as a backup safety device, and for that it appears excellent. We do also own and use a full featured GPS unit for its map and track recording features, and use Mac computers (so cannot speak yet to the GP-102's ability to record and upload tracks to the referenced software), but see this as potentially replacing a lot of the functions of our full-featured GPS. It is also very intuitive to use. I figured out most of its features within a few minutes before even reading the manual._______________UPDATE: It's a few days later and we have put the GP-102+ to further use. We are even more impressed. Tracks are saved as *.FIT files (which are becoming more widely used), but are readily converted to *.GPX files, a universal file format for movement/activity data. We plugged the GP-102+ into our Mac computer using the supplied USB cable and the device was recognized as an external drive. From there, we located the FIT file associated with our morning hike and converted it to a GPX file using an on-line FIT to GPX converter (Google helped us locate the on-line converter). The GPX file was easily uploaded to our favorite GPS hiking site, GaiaGPS.com to permanently record our hike, and then to our favorite activity tracking site, RunKeeper.com, where it also recorded our hike and told us how many calories we burned. This data was then shared with MyFitnessPal.com, a widely used fitness tracker that many users will be familiar with. We did all of this from our Mac computer in just a few minutes. I see us leaving leaving both our expensive GPS as well as our cell phones home a lot more from now on.In short, we are very happy with the the performance of the G-Porter GP-102+ for locating our position via lat/long coordinates and also for its logging ability, which appears to be universally compatible (after the FIT to GPX conversion) with popular websites that track your movement/activity and fitness. We just ordered a second one.

excellent small device
I use this for windsurfing (inside of a plastic waterproof pouch) and it's been working wonderfully. easy to use, plenty of battery life for what I need. It's nice to be able to see the top speed in the display easily, I can't look while i'm riding, but it's easy enough to pull it out and see during a break. Very glad I got this instead of a bulky watch. One important thing to note in regards to windsurfing... all of the speed windsurfing sites would prefer "doppler" based measurements for speed. This *appears* to have it (based on feedback from the manufacturer) but it's unclear to me from the output file if it is or not. I suspect it is, but most of the speed surfing sites are stuck on 5-10 year old technology and haven't added this device or it's output format to their list of acceptable devices.Edit/update: One summer later and things are still going strong. One thing I seem to have neglected to mention is more about the waterproof pack... when I emailed the manufacturer, they seemed to have doubts about using it for windsurfing (even if it's waterproof, the impact from a fall might be more like high pressure diving!) but i've been using it with the Aquapac Keymaster AQP-608 Waterproof Wallet: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0044LWA4K/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and despite plenty of falls (and some pretty vicious ones!) this things been rock solid, so no complaints here!!

cheap and neat!
This is exactly what I wanted. Its cheap, makes a log of my travels, and will display speed in real time. I got a waterproof wallet sized dry bag for it so I can use it when sailing. To change to see the speedometer choose an activity on the main menu and hit the right button a few times until it pops up. I was very frustrated until I watched a review and found out how to use this. I would recommend it friends.

Not really water resistant.
I don't know how some of these guys use it for wind surfing... but seeing how its "water resistant to IPX6".I put mine inside of a plastic bag and even then moisture got inside of it. Everytime I try to use it the screens starts getting foggy. It's not water resistant at all.Overall, GPS seems to work okay aside from moisture issues. It's okay for the money... seems to have plenty of features.

Need a Personal Tutor
I like the compact size, and the ability to be recharged easily, but I may be too dense to learn how to use this particular unit. I've used five different GPS over the years, and have had no problems at all getting comfortable with them. I suppose I need a personal tutor for this type, as neither the disk or instruction sheet relates anything to even get me started!

even after downloading instruction manual are poor. Fortunately
This little tracker works as intended for my husband's windsurfing sessions. Only problem is that operation is not-intuitive and instructions, even after downloading instruction manual are poor. Fortunately, a friend sent him to a website that helped a lot. http://boardsurfr.blogspot.com/2014/07/getting-started-with-canmore-gp-102-gps.html

This is a great little device
This is a great little device. Just be sure and clear its memory before it gets full. The device will not auto delete the oldest entries automatically. I didn't realize this and lost some important trips as a result. No warning appears on the screen when it's full, it just stops logging.

Suddenly stopped working and would not turn on
I only got to use it a handful of times until such time it would either (1) not turn on, or (2) turn on but no display. Of course, this happened about a week after the return period expired.

What a pile of manure
bought this as a birthday present for my dad. Arrived and the cd was faulty with no route finder info or any of the info it was supposed to contain. He spent his birthday trying to download instructions online which were completely unintelligible. Absolutely crap, won't be using Amazon again, they should have some quality control and stop peddling rubbish.

Device seems OK when you can work out how to use it but the software kept crashing a Win7 computer so was never able to extract the data from it. This defeated what I needed it for so had to send back to Amazon.

Nix für Geocaching
Das Gerät mag für die Aufzeichnung von Strecken und den sportlichen Gebrauch sinnvoll sein, für Geocaching ist es nicht einsetzbar! Also geht es leider zurück...
