This is the number you see which is 5. 5 is going to be middle of the road Brunette. 1 is black and 10 is platinum everything else falls in between these levels. The W is going to stand for Warm which is a tone. Warm will have reds and coppers as the base in the color. The V will stand for Violet. The W is in the first spot so that is going be the primary color/tone and will equal 2 parts. I have never tried using hair color without a developer. Developer opens the hair folicle to allow the color pigments into the hair fiber, resulting in lasting color.
