Donated my 580ex to my daughter for this upgrade. Really liked the 580 and this is even better but not by a big margin. Over the years learned to "buck up" and pay for quality that Canon products provide. It hurts the wallet, but THEY WORK. I use it with a 70D and get great shots indoors and outside to eliminate shadowing.

Flash worked as expected. The extra batteries and charger were not high quality but they were included into the package. Unlike my previous 430EX-II flash, this latest version allows the use of an external battery pack.

Before getting cheap imitations like I did, get one of these for your camera, the one you always use and try the cheaper ones like Yongnuo for the slave drives. In less than 6 months of light use one of my 2 cheap flashes quit working. No way to fix it. If you depend on your flash like I do, buy this one. If it's just a hobby? Maybe a cheap one.
