These starter logs starts our fireplace with only using one! Other starters you need to use more than one!

Great fire starter for indoor or outdoor use. No need for any paper or tiny kindling. Gets split logs going within a few minutes. Very little smoke and easy to light.

Must hav received older product. Did not light up as previously used product but burned ok.

Duraflame has made similar fire starters for some time now. They're an off-shoot of their fireplace synthetic log business. I believe them to be made of the same material as the fireplace logs, just much smaller. So they are easy to light with one match and burn for maybe 20 minutes or so; I haven't timed them. But they are small, like 6 ounces, which is totally fine for their intended purpose. If you might use crumpled paper as a starter for a wood fire, use these instead. For you non-Scouts, build your fuel from small to big: small, relatively easy to catch (kindling) pieces of wood on the bottom, slightly larger pieces on top of that, with larger stuff on top. You put one of these starters on the absolute bottom and put everything else on top of that. Then your one match will light it and get the other stuff going. You cannot sit a 6" diameter log on top of one of these and expect it to burn. Ditto for wet stuff. Once you have a nice, hot fire going, then you can add some damp fuel, so that the heat of the fire can dry it out. Then it will burn. These work great for their intended purpose and I'm seldom without some. I do prefer the larger ones which are roughly twice the size of these, but I don't know if they are still manufactured; haven't seen them in a while. Enjoy.

I've used the Duraflame fire starters for years and they have always worked well. They are easy to carry and clean, since they stay in the wrapper and you don't need to remove them from the wrapper to use. The are easy to light and safe to carry. If you catch them on sale and get them for about a dollar each. They are a good value for camping or backyard sue.
