Essential Cuisine Beef Glace 600g Conc St

I use this to add to meat juices for fantastic gravy. I also use the chicken version, and sometimes use both in combination for a massive flavour boost.Perfectly possible to make good gravy and sauces without meat juices using this glace.Expensive, but well worth it.

Good flavor and very useful cooking for one or a crowd

I have used different flavours of this Essential Cuisine Glace and it is an excellent stock. Authentic flavour and very easy to use. If you are in the catering business then this is for you. If you only cook infrequently then this is a big jar and expensive to buy so probably not the one you need. Pity it doesn't come in smaller jars but it is designed for professionals.

Spent years looking for a really good beef stock that is not basically made up of salt. This is finally it. Don’t be afraid of the price it’s pure beef concentrate and finally gets 10 out of 10 from my overly salt sensitive wife.

To look at and use, this product is rather like like runny marmite in consistency and it is easy to add a small spoonful to get a nice depth of colour to gravy. However... I found this glace to have a peculiar taste, hard to describe. Something like a chemical, scented, plasticky taste, which was unpleasant. Unfortunately for me, having used a small spoonful the first time, the rest went straight in the bin, which was annoying, given that I'd spent the thick end of £30. Ah well, I'll have to chalk this up to experience. I should have paid more attention to the warnings from other reviewers!

Decent

Don’t bother - use Bovril. There is literally no difference in flavour.
