Love, Aubrey

Emotional and Well-Written
I read this book for the first time when I was about ten years old. I thought the book was amazing, so I bought it on Kindle and I read it all the time.Eleven year old Aubrey has a hard life. Her father and sister both recently died in a car accident. Her mother became mentally ill and left Aubrey at her home in Virginia for a week. Then Aubrey's grandmother found her by herself. Aubrey's grandmother took her to live with her in Vermont, much to Aubrey's dismay. She has to go to school and learn to cope with her sadness while living life everyday. Aubrey then befriends the girl next door, Bridgett, and a boy from school, Marcus. She becomes very good friends with Bridgett, and then tells her the details of her family's car accident. With the help of friends and relatives, she soon gets better as she tries to put her family back together. When Aubrey was telling her friend about the car crash, I was actually crying. The writing style makes you feel exactly how Aubrey feels as she goes through this awful time in her life.I'd reccomend this book for anyone ages 11+. It's a very good book for a realistic-fiction book project. I hope the summary above helped.

Captivating, yet tragic
"Love, Aubrey" is a sad and somewhat complicated story about a girl named Aubrey who mourns her family members who were killed in an accident and also struggles to take care of herself after she has been abandoned by her mother, the only other survivor of the accident. The book focuses on Aubrey adjusting to life after the tragedy while avoiding detection that may result in her being sent to foster care. After being alone for a long time, she was found by her grandmother from Vermont, who decided to take her to Vermont until Aubrey's mother returns. Aubrey goes to Vermont and discovers a new life full of love and care, all the while waiting for her mother to turn up. After being at her grandmother's for a long time, Aubrey's mother is found, yet Aubrey begins to wonder if she really wants to go back home.Watching Aubrey's steady growth after the accident was very captivating and touching as she learns more and more. Her letters, communication with her family, communication with her friends, and visits to the counselor's office are all sources of growth for her. Watching Aubrey progress makes you feel thankful for what you have. I recommend this book to anyone looking for a good read.

GREAT book!
I originally bought this for my 5th grade daughters school book project. After she read it I decided to read it too since she went on and on about how great the book was, she was right! This book was perfect for her age and reading level. I couldn't put it down once I started reading. It's very emotional but has a great plot and characters. I admit I did cry, my daughter did too. The author did such a good job with the details in the book, made you feel like you were really there and part of the story. Reading it actually made my 5th grade daughter appreciate her little sister more and I have noticed a difference in how she treats her(for the better). It's kind of crazy that a book would help there relationship but it did! Hopefully it last. I'd have to go on to say this is probably one of the best books I've ever read. HIGHLY RECOMMEND-especially for young girls with little brothers or sisters.

Good read for all!
I read this book four years ago, so forgive me if I forget anything. The main point of this book is Aubrey, who is suffering the loss of her dad and younger sister. It doesn't help that her mom left her home alone for days while she "figures stuff out". When that is discovered, Aubrey moves in with someone who can take care of her. To get over her grief, she writes letters to her deceased younger sister, and learns that some stars like herself need a little darkness to shine. A great read for younger elementary school kids, and a treasure for all.
