Purchased 2 and now both faulty
Purchased a white version December 2015 and has worked well until about 3 months ago along with this older black version used elsewhere. They have not been used a lot. White one now only works on 2 of the ports. The black one unfortunately has started playing up too with only 3 ports working now out of the 5. Contacted Ankerdirect and they advised this => if the certain port isn't working properly, the reason may be that your device has triggered the protective internal safety switch. To reset the switch, could you please unplug all cables (including power cable) and unplug the charger from your outlet for five minutes to retry? <= I did this a number of times and the other ports still do not function. I was also advised both the chargers were out of their 18 month warranty and they are unable to help further. I have recommended Anker to many friends and family who have also bought these and other Anker products overtime. I think it is time to look at alternative brands and no longer recommend. I expected them to last longer than this

Good number of ports and devices charge rapidly.
[Update] 22 June 2016I was contacted directly by Anker after posting my initial review and the contacted me and offered a replacement as a goodwill gesture. They handled the matter well and quickly despatched the item. I have since update this review and score to reflect the good customer service.[Original]I bought this item on 6 April of 2014, it worked perfectly for 17 months then the 2nd port down on the device died on 2nd October 2015 and would not provide power to any device with any cable.I contacted Anker as soon as I was able to as I was away at the time of the failure and during my trip I passed the 18 month period.Anker were very firm on not accepting a return as the claim was after the warranty period even though the device failed within the warranty period. They would not consider any return at all.Since then the top port has died as well (march 2016) and now this 5 port charger is not a 3 port charger.Not impressed with the device quality if it is designed to fail this way after 2 years.

Do not work as advertised. Would not recommend.
Purchased a 1m and 2m version of this cable last June and for the most part only used the cables for charging (which worked fine). In January I tried to back up my iPhone to Mac and the connection was very intermittent; simply touching the cable or moving the iPhone would cause the iPhone to disconnect and then reconnect. I assumed this was a fault with my phone, and when at the Apple store they removed a huge amount of fluff from the lightning port. I've since tried again and I have the same issue (and I have tried other computers too). Furthermore, the same issue occurs when connecting my phone to the USB port in my 2014 BMW and is highly annoying, going over heavy bumps, or simply looking at the cable, will disconnect the phone and it takes a while to get the music to resume playing. Additionally when connecting the iPhone for the first time it has a heart attack and connects/reconnects about 10-20 times in the space of 10 seconds.The build quality is fine (nothing special) but I simply cannot rate these cables more than 1 star as they do not work as advertised. If you are solely using the cable to charge from a wall plug USB charger then they work fine.Both the 1 metre and 2 metre versions of this cable exhibit the exact same issues. I do find this odd as I was expecting, from all of the other reviews, for these to be faultless. Perhaps I was sent fakes?Two days ago I purchased 2x ANKER 6ft braided nylon Lightning cables and these work flawlessly in the car and with computers/Macs, and have much better build quality, appearance and packaging. I would recommend paying the slight extra and purchasing them instead.I have to (yet again) praise Amazon customer service who instantly issued a refund for these cables even though I bought them over ten months ago.

No mains noise on screen which was good, then months later no power which was bad, now a new unit which hopefully is good.
Edited 2/8/2015Amazon seem to have lumped all the reviews together, as they often do, having the effect of making the review system much less useful.This review was for the previous model of the device: model 71AN7105 output 5volts at 8 amps. This model had some issues with output port failure which were attended to swiftly by supplying a replacement. The problem seems to have been resolved in this newer model according to other reviews. Note to Amazon : You are making the review process useless by lumping reviews together.Remarkable small compared to some of the other integrated plug types. OK there is the extra wire and plug but sometimes that is handy if the mains socket is far away. Most important as far as I am concerened is that my Archos tablet is not picking up stray mains signals while connected to this charger. The stray mains signals cause the touch screen to become unstable.This had been a real problem with a different 4 port power charger I had tried.6/6/2015 Edit to this review and downgrade to four stars.My unit lost one then a second usb charging port. It had not had much use and so should have been in almost new condition. The after sales service was very good and I now have a replacment unit but having taken the time to read the one star reviews find this failure occurrs. Most concerning is the one where the the reviewer said then that it caught fire. These instances may be rare but it is a concern as I often leave things to charge overnight. I will post a review of the replacment if it too fails but hope that there will be no problems. I say this looking at it with a degree of suspicion as I thought these things would be fireproof.28/8/2015 Replacment device still working well with lots of different devices.
