Paula Deen Signature Teakettles Enamel on Steel 2-Quart Whistling Teakettle, Red Speckle

I checked out numerous tea kettles in the stores before I ordered this one, and found that some of them had uncomfortable handles or flimsy spout levers. This one's handle is comfortable to hold all the way to the back (I hold it at the back to make pouring easier) and the spout cover always goes securely back to fully closed. The whistle is very high and shrill - it is plenty loud for being anywhere on the same floor of the house. The lid fits securely but is not too hard to open for filling. The deep red looks great on my black cooktop. My only regret is that I could not find a larger kettle; I have to carefully turn the flame down to avoid having it come up the sides, even on my smallest burner, and when I go to make iced tea in summer I know I will miss the extra capacity of my old 3-qt kettle.

I love this tea kettle. It's the perfect size for a few servings of tea but doesn't take up too much space on the stovetop. The lid is easily removable and the part that opens the spout does not get too hot. The kettle whistles loudly when the water boils. And the speckled blue color is really quite cute. I find the kettle easy to clean. All in all everything I would want in a tea kettle. I'm writing this review at least a year since I've gotten the kettle and it's just as good now as when I first got it.

The Paula Deen Signature 2-quart teakettle in Butter color is very pretty sitting on the stove. It is quite sturdy - maybe just a little too heavy when filled with water. The lid is a thin aluminum, but in my opinion, not too thin, well made, and fits securely into the kettle. With a porcelin exterior, and a spout that stays open when pressed, this kettle heats water fairly quickly, and has a loud, beautiful-sounding whistle when the water boils. The handle is heat resistant and comfortable to hold, and the only problem I have found is that the thumb rest used to open the spout is a little hard to reach when holding the handle. Maybe larger hands would have no such problem. I love using the teakettle and listening to the pretty whistle when the water is ready. A nice addition to my kitchen.

Guys normally don't review products such as this; I had to because no one points out it's flaws that even Paula Deen admits to. This kettle is made of porcelain enamel. To quote Paula's own "Important Safety, use & care information, overheating can make teakettles with porcelain enamel fuse to the surface of glass cook top ranges, requiring the replacement of the glass cook top." She indirectly defines overheating by stating "your teakettle should be heated on medium-to-medium high heat only." When I tried this atop by new glass top range, the whistle was very weak. It would have been inaudible outside the kitchen. Paula's instructions say something about all her teakettles. The latter instruction didn't specify any particular type of kettle, so using a medium high setting must apply to all.She also states "never leave these teakettles on a glass cook top. Remove to a heat-resistant surface such as a wood cutting board." In other words, porcelain enamel require caution when using. So, if you've a glass cook top, be cautious before putting your money into this or ANY porcelain kettle. If you like it's looks & are cautious with your range & cookware, go for it. It's a beautiful little kettle; one I would give 5 starts to were it not made the way it is. Perhaps in Amazon's vast selection, you'll find a porcelain model with a copper or stainless steel bottom. Because I was unaware of this problem, I never looked for that feature.

Over a year ago now, I was in the market for a yet another new red teakettle. After searching through countless brick and mortar stores with no avail, I turned to Amazon and found this kettle! My favorite part of this kettle is the slightly speckled red exterior. I like to leave my teakettle on the back burner of my stove for easy accessibility and use, but that also means it has a tendency to soon become coated in grease splatters and normal cooking grim. The slightly speckled coating of this kettle is awesome because it really helps to hide that grime so I don't have to wipe it off every single day. The whistle is nice and loud, but can be 'off' too if need be by just lifting it up into the 'pouring' position while heating the water to a boil. In my 8 years of marriage, I have went thru 4 teakettles already and this one is by far the best one yet!

The tea kettle was very pretty and heavy duty however it made the water heated up in it have a terrible chemical taste no matter how many times I washed it out.The kettle itself gets low stars but Amazon Prime gets 5 stars for their great return policy on it. They paid for return shipping and refunded my money. I did it all online and dropped off the package with UPS. I even got emails from Amazon telling me when my return package was received and when my money was refunded. Thank you Amazon!

Nice Kettle - They sent me the wrong color and I cannot return it because I dont live in the United States

I redecorated/repainted and needed a red teapot. I had been watching prices of ones that I thought I might want when I saw this one. It is just the color I wanted - deep red - and I love the pebbly texture. I leave it on the stove all the time because it just looks great. Previously I had RevereWare teapot which was funtional and durable - not not much to look at and was hard to keep clean. The design on the red one is different than I am used to, but it works ok with the lever. Whistle works great too. The price was wonderful too. Great deal all the way around and it is just what I wanted. 1-1-14 I just wanted to add that I still LOVE my teapot. It is one of those things in my house that when I see it, it makes me happy!!! It works great and looks great.
