Use it for brewing beer. Works perfectly with a PID Controller.

Great element. Fits well, no leaks. I could use a larger wattage, but this product is very well made and worth the price. Mine did come with a screw on, metal cap. The hole in the cap is a little large for the gauge of wire i used (extension cord) so i wrapped with electric tape to snug the fit. Great for brewing or distilling with PID control. Boils my 5 gallon mashes in about an hour. I do recommend

The strain relief for this does not really work. The minimum diameter for the strain relief is way larger than even the largest of 14 gauge cords. It could probably work with a 6 gauge cord, which may be appropriate for the larger 220V systems, but even that is a stretch. Further the hole where the strain relief mounts is too large to use an aftermarket strain relief of the correct size. One more thing to be aware of, the strain relief is a one time use device. you cant fit it and disassemble it, once it is tightened down, untightening it destroys the unit. This makes it incredibly difficult to size components and put together a working system. With all that said, the rest of the unit is built to a high standard , the metal is high quality, and it is built like a rock.

Under the plastic head where you connect the wiring broke loose and caused a direct short and fused the connections together and caught fire and kicked my breaker out.

Look good, came well packaged. Work just fine right out of box. Verdict is still out on how long it will last, but just from the looks it is manufactured very well and seem to be of heavy constructed stainless steel.

I used this for a DIY all in one brewing setup. You need to make your own enclosure for the electronics. I would HIGHLY recommend connecting the ground line to your triclamp connector for some vague sense of safety as the element does not have a connection on it for that. personally i like this as safety is not my priority. beer is. This is a low watt density heater and I have not had any issues with burnt wort because of it.
