I really love this. I thought it was going to be really annoying to clean and to use, but it’s surprisingly very easy. The little square part fits perfectly in, so it’s really nice to use. The material looks good, and I’d say it’s pretty good value for what I paid. I do like it.

Bought for my son who loves spaetzle and now uses this tool to make homemade spaetzle frequently. The tool is simple and yet, it does the trick. The design enables the base to rest across the top edge of a pot full of boiling water while he slides the cup full of batter back and forth over the bas which enables the batter to drop through in small sized pieces into the boiling water. I do recommend using a pair of tongs to hold and slide the cup as it does get very hot. The entire unit washes up well in the dishwasher afterwards. Highly recommend

I am so upset that I didn't have one of these sooner, it saves SO much time and energy to use this. I love how uniform my spaetzle comes out. I used to make my spaetzle the way my dad taught me, which was by slowly pouring the batter out of the bowl, into the boiling water, and cutting off sections with a knife as it dripped out. Holding up a bowl with thick batter for how long it takes to manually cut each piece to size was exhausting. Definitely worth having this on hand and can probably be used for other applications.

The only way I have ever made these little dumplings (Spätzle, Nokedli) is with an old-fashioned grater and a wooden spatula. Usually, half of my dough falls over the sides. This device has a small box that holds the dough and fits in a track that keeps the dough caged in. You just slide it back and forth until all of the dough has been pushed through the holes. My recipe was 100 grams of all-purpose flour, 1 egg, and up to 1/4 cup of water. Mix until a smooth, soft dough forms. Put it in the sliding box and push/pull it over the boiling broth. I did about 1/3 of the amount and then paused to stir and spread the dumplings out so they didn't keep piling up on themselves. OMG! This was the easiest batch of dumplings I have ever made. The bonus was how easy the cleanup was. The old way meant that I only made the dumplings only for special occasions. Now, my husband wants them all the time. He said, "These are better than noodles!" I am never going back to the old ways again!

My husband and I recently tried some frozen spaetzle from our local market, and enjoyed it immensely. We decided that spaetzle is a good alternative starch to be able to eat with our supper for something different, but didn't want to pay the high price for the small frozen portions. After researching recipes, it was apparent that spaetzle is easy and quick to make, but even easier if you have the right tool. This fits the bill. It fits easily over my pots, and when loaded with the batter makes quick work of making a large pot of spaetzle in a short time. It is low tech and almost fool proof. It is sturdy and made of a good weight stainless steel, without sharp edges. I followed the suggestions from some other reviewers and sprayed it with cooking spray before use, and put it into a bowl of water to soak before cleaning it, and it cleans up in a breeze. It didn't cost much, and is a great investment for my kitchen and the spaetzle is a great addition to our supper starch rotation.
