When we bought our house, the previous owner hadn't kept the security system maintained. Several doors had contact sensors hanging off the frames, and a few wires were pushed up into the doorframe. I've been resurrecting the complete security system over the last week or so, but I didn't want to take the door trim off, fish out the wires, re-hang the trim, etc, etc. These slimline wireless sensors aren't *that* much larger than the wired versions. Yes, they're larger. Yes, they're a little more noticeable. But they're wireless and allowed me to fix the couple of doors where the wires had gone bad without taking my walls apart. That's worth it, in my book.I installed my own panel, so I had my panel's master codes. To add these to your system, you will either need to contact your installer, or you will need to have the installers codes to program the panel (and the know-how to use them) yourself. If you're reasonably experienced with "Do it yourself" projects, this is not difficult. It took me about 30 minutes of research online to figure out how all consumer-grade security panels work and about an hour of reading the programming manuals to work out how to program mine.The honeywell panel (with the newer keypads) makes adding these into the system a breeze. You just set the zone type, tell the panel it's an RF sensor, and then separate the magnet and transmitter a couple of times to auto-enter the serial number. From that point on, it "just works". You should make sure to test your sensors in the location you want to install them before you tape or screw them to your door, but I have a rather large house, and these worked fine when the receiver (my RF keypad) was on the first floor on one side of the house, and the sensor was in the basement on the opposite side of the house. I live in a pretty remote area, though, with almost no RF interference, so your milage may vary.Bottom line, I love these sensors, and I'll buy them again as I need more.

I've had 3 of these develop what appear to be tamper switch problems (i.e., the tamper switch triggers an alarm when there is no tampering. I fixed this by putting 1 or 2 layers of tape on the ridge the keeps the tamper switch down. .I use these on my PVC double pane windows sills. I glue rare earth magnets to the top pane and stick this thing on the lower pane (and ditch the magnet it came with) so that it alarms no matter which part of the window gets opened.They are pricey, but they look much better than the bigger ones. Plus, these don't require me to drill into my new vinyl windows.

I have been using these since they were released. The only issue, a TAMPER issue, is easily solved at installation. Place about four layers of Electrical tape [about a 1/4" square] on top of the tamper post., This prevents a false tamper caused by home vibrations. The battery life is around the 10 year life claimed.Replacement battery should be an AAA LITHIUM battery.

These are a great addition to any Honeywell wireless alarm system. You will need to have access to the installer's code for your panel else you will need to contact your alarm system provider to get these paired to your system.I have had these wireless contacts for about 5 months w/out any issues.They come with very high quality batteries and a high quality double-sided tape that should provide very long term reliable placement and function.They seem to have no problems at all communicating with a wireless receiver that is at least 60ft away and through several walls.

These fail a lot. I have had to replace several. Some have lasted a long time. Others, just a few months. Too expensive to keep risking that. The security company I am using said they no longer use these because of the high failure rate. Too bad, because the slim size makes them almost unnoticeable. But, if I can’t count on them, what’s the point in having a security system?

One of the contacts on my alarm system (at least 10 years old) went out (the tamper switch fell out). Luckily, I found this online, added the contact to the existing shell and magnet sensor and programmed in the new serial number. So glad I could get this through Amazon so I was up and running for about a $30 part rather than an expensive service call to the alarm installer.Sometimes compatible parts are hard to find for old systems but this one matched perfectly.

Much better than the standard large transmitter using 3V specialty battery. This one fits anywhere, works well without any false alarms, and uses much cheaper and widely available AAA battery.

Easy to install and program. They were $17 when I bought them. Very good for the price.
