Great Magnetizer/OK Demagnetizer
This is a simple, inexpensive device that really works well, within limitations. The magnetizer works great. Slowly inserting a tool (made of a metal capable of being magnetized) into the + chamber and then slowly retracting it readily magnetizes it. Works great when you want screwdrivers to grab onto screws.Demagnetizing a tool, however, is more difficult. To thoroughly demagnetize a tool, you probably need an electromagnetic degaussing coil. This much simpler device is OK, but a bit tricky to use. As others have noted, there are no instructions included. The - chamber has a series of steps, and it's not obvious what their purpose is. I contacted Wiha tech support, and they responded promptly (two service reps sent e-mail). Below are their instructions. It is important to note that the tool tip can be so strongly magnetic that the screw or other part it touches can itself become magnetized. So to test the demagnetizer, you need to test the demagnetized tip on a fresh (previously unmagnetized) part; otherwise, if the part itself is magnetized, you would incorrectly conclude that the demagnetizer didn't work. From Wiha tech support:"You put the screwdriver blade slowly in and out of the + side to magnetize and slowly in and out of the - side to demagnetize. If you are having trouble demagnetizing put the blade in slowly at the top of the demagnetizing side, walk it down the steps and then remove.Magnetism transfers so you need to be careful to not keep magnetized and demagnetized items together. Parts under 1" in length or 1/8" diameter may not demagnetize. (Do not use a paper clip to check if a tool is demagnetized, because of the size once it is magnetized it cannot be demagnetized and transfers the magnetism back to the other tool.)Also if you are trying to demag an item with larger mass it will take repeated attempts to demag it."

Works pretty good
This magnetizing tool does work, and not too badly. It is kind of inconsistent in getting screwdrivers and such to become magnetized, and I have not figured out why that is. However, I can say that having magnetic screw drivers is well worth the price of purchase for this tool. It makes working by yourself so much easier when you can have a screw stay in place while working with your other hand.Aside from being a bit inconsistent I have to say that I am pleased with this tool and would recommend it to other DIY'ers and craftsmen.

Works Great
Just a couple pulls through and my screwdriver tips are magnetic. Seems to last a long time.

No more fighting with screws as you try to insert and remove them
This little device should have been added to my toolbox YEARS ago. It's so simple, yet completely effective. When you use a screwdriver that doesn't have magnetized tips, screws won't stay in place as you try to insert them...and they fall off when your remove them. I got so tired of dealing with it. Just stick the tip of the screwdriver (or drill bit driver) into the + side of this device, wiggle it around in the magnetized area for a few seconds and you are done! Now, when you put a screw onto the end of your screwdriver, it stays in place on it's own and wont fall off when you are inserting it. Just as valuable, when you remove a screw, it stays on the end of the screwdriver and won't fall down into whatever you are working on. It will generally stay magnetized during your project, but just use it again when the magnetic pull starts to wear off. I haven't needed the de-magnetize option (-) but it's there if you do. This thing is cheap, easy to use and a "must have" in your toolbox. Wish I would have bought it years ago.

Great magnetizer!
Works like a charm I magnetized about 50 screwdrivers so far with it , Demagnetizer works well too , I would buy it again .

Meh, it worked kinda
Meh, it does what it says but not without fuss. I was also surprised at its size. It worked and was a decent price but I don’t know if it’s worth the name brand or not.
