As I get older, my eyesight isn't what it used to be. This particularly affects me when soldering electronics. I have recently rebuilt my electronics workbench and decided that I would finally purchase a magnifier lamp to add to my bench. My requirements were as follows:- At least a 3x magnification factor- LED lighting around the lens- A lens made of glass- An extension arm that can maintain tension and self balance- A lens large enough for both eyes to work throughAmazon has many options available from large tensioned swing-arm magnifying lamps to small clip on gooseneck unlit magnifiers. The reviews are good, but I am always concerned about these long-arm tensioning/balancing mechanisms. There are also several similar lamps available for half the price but there are so many with minor differences in the feature, I couldn't see a clear winner for a better value. I kept scrolling through the list and eventually came across this Omano Desk Magnifier Lamp. I did some research on their other products (largely microscopes) and found that reviews were positive.I decided that for less than half the price, I could give up the idea of the long ARM reach because this lamp can be repositioned easily by picking it up and moving it. I received the lamp yesterday.-The assembly quality exceeded my expectations - it feels very firm. The joins are stiff enough to hold the head in place, even when fully extended.-The published magnification was slightly less than my desired (2.5x vs 3x), but having the 6x inspection dot was a nice surprise. I have to be honest though that I want to verify that my unit is a 2.5x, because it doesn't "seem" to be, but I haven't actually measured the magnification factor.-The 4" lens is enough to look through with both eyes on your work piece, but it does sometimes take a moment to get your head in the right spot to take advantage of it.- The focal point is at a comfortable distance behind the lens - at least 4 inches - I had no problem working my soldering iron- The lens came with some dust on it, but it cleaned up very well and had no defects in it- The lens cover is flimsy plastic but has no problem staying in the up position even when the head is at a steep angel.- The LEDs might be PWM, as I thought I detected some flicker when I first turned it on, however while working I didn't experience any fatigue. I need to validate this as well. I will say that I only really noticed it when I first turned it on.- I wish the lamp were just a tad bit brighter. It was more than adequate in a dark room.- The LED lighting was VERY even - the cord is 3 feet longOther than slightly brighter LEDs and a longer cord, the only other thing I might add is a dimmable lamp, but that's me stretching for things to nit pick - I don't see a reason that I would use it personally.Final point - this is a good buy for soldering.

I needed a combination hands-free light source and magnifier to look at old family photos as part of a family history project. This fits nicely on my work surface, is stable, and the ilumination is excellent. The large magnification works well. The smaller higher-power part of the lens is hard to use as it tends to give distortion. This was expected and not a disappointment. It is inherent with the size of the lens, and not a defect. If you want a higher power lens than 5x, you will need to use a separate unit. All in all, this is just what I wanted and I am using it several times a week.

Purchase this for my elderly father who is trouble seeing paperwork and bills and needed some thing with a magnifying glass but an additional stronger magnifying glass with a light. Feedback from my father is this light works extremely well, it’s lightweight, not too bulky and fits well on a countertop. the magnifying top part goes up and down. Dad is very satisfied with this product would recommend it and would buy again in the future.

This light works great by my serger - but is small and light so that I tend to move it with me to work in other areas of the house. Very solid, good light and excellent magnification.

I bought this for my husband who's eyesight is not what it used to be. The still loves to read the newspaper and check bills etc. The led lighting is excellent! The flexibility of the lamp head makes doing most tasks very easy. The only thing he misses about his old lamp was the electric plug and USB that were on the base. Great product overall.

This lamp is exactly what I needed to help me with my bead work. The 5 diopter magnification is ample for most work but the 12 is available if needed. The LED lighting is bright and without glare. The lamp is lightweight enough to move around but tall enough so I won't stoop while sitting at my desk. Very happy with this purchase.

I use it when I do my nail decorations and when the writing is too small on a bottle. Incredibly handy! I wish it had better range of motion on both the head and the neck part.

I have used this to work on guns. The light is very bright and the magnification perfect for my old eyes. It is very flexible and allows me to look at things at whatever angle I need to. Fantastic.
