La Sportiva Women's OXYGYM Climbing Shoe

I'm a complete beginner (climbing 1-2x a week for 4 months now). I bought these so as to avoid constantly getting hit by rental fees.They fit true to size. I wear a size 7 in most street shoes, size 7.5 in athletic shoes. I got these in the EUR 38 and they fit well. The shoe is snug, and my toes touch the edge, but are not super-curled. I think they could have fit a tiny bit better if I had gone down to a 37.5 -- after an hour or so of wear, they tend to feel a bit loose on my feet. The velcro straps make it easy to re-adjust to the proper snugness, though.They look cool, and apparently they're washable! I haven't tried this yet but will update when I do so.

Awesome shoe but extremely small

As a beginner climber (less than a year of climbing), these shoes have done a great job.I decided to order these after 3 months of climbing and renting shoes from the gym. The amount that I was spending on renting shoes was almost breaking even with the cost of a new pair, so I decided to go ahead and take the leap of investing in my first pair of rock climbing shoes. I wanted something that would fit and perform better than the rentals I had been using without breaking the bank.The shoes were delivered to me five days after ordering them. I ordered a size 40.5, a half size smaller than my normal shoe and the size I wear in gym rentals. In all honesty, I probably could have gotten away with ordering a 41. The shoes were tight enough that my toes were curling just slightly, but since they weren’t broken in yet and there wasn’t a return label I decided to try them out. I’m glad I did!I have been climbing in the shoes for the past five months. I go climbing indoors two to three times a week for around 2 hours. I’m able to wear the shoes for the entire duration of the session without having to take my shoes off. They are tight enough to make me feel confident in placing my feet without them shifting inside the shoe, like the ones I would rent from the gym.The shoes work great for the level of routes that I am currently climbing.Since I am not progressing very quickly, I don’t think that I will be needing to buy new shoes as I get better since they have been doing the job just fine. They don’t slip on the tinier foot holds or while smearing. When they do slip, it’s more likely my own fault than it is because of the shoe.I chose the Oxygym shoe because they were a relatively cheap neutral climbing shoe that had bright colors that would bring out my own personal style. The style of the shoe is great and looks a lot different from most other beginner shoes out on the market (La Sportiva Tarantulace is a popular one at my gym and mostly the only other ones I see). I enjoy having unique-looking shoes that speak to my style while also giving me the convenience of velcro straps. If you are slipping in and out of your shoes a lot, it is so nice to have velcro straps and not laces. You can just strap in and go whenever you’re ready.The only downside to the shoes is that they don’t have great breathability. I find that this will be an issue no matter the shoe you have and being on top of cleaning them is helpful. I haven’t attempted to fully wash them yet, but spot-cleaning simply putting a dryer sheet or a tiny sock of baking soda in each shoe helps reduce any lingering odor between climbs. Nobody likes stinky feet in the gym.Because I am only climbing 5.8 to 5.10- routes and mostly indoors, I don’t need a shoe that can “do it all”. These are a great choice for any beginner. If you decide to buy it from this vendor I suggest that you either buy your actual shoe size or allow a little more in your budget to pay for any possible returns.

I ordered a size 9, which is my normal shoe size, and the fit is snug without making my toes curl under. I personally appreciate the velcro strap style; it allows for more adjustability in the overall tightness of the shoe. I am new to climbing and am no expert at how these sorts of shoes are supposed to fit for the professional, but I am very comfortable in them and they seem like a perfect starting shoe. They also look pretty cool! I have used them twice now and suspect they won't take too long to break. Climbing is awesome!

The quality and color of these shoes are great. They fit well and work well. My one issue and annoyance with these shoes is actually the velcro closure. I thought it would be easy to use and initially considered the velcro a feature. Unfortunately, in actuality, it is difficult to get the velcro closure tight enough on these shoes to ensure a good fit and often the velcro pieces don't line up, they almost "pass" by each other so I have to twist or do some other thing to get them to line up and attach to each other. Very annoying and unfortunate on an otherwise great shoe.

I normally wear a women's size 6 US. Initially ordered the 36.5 and they for the body of my foot well but my toes were really crunched into them, it was a but painful to stand in. I ordered the next size up (37) to compare and ended up returning the smaller pair. The 37's are still snug but I don't have to bunch up my toes to fit them in. They've been great to climb in, lots of grip on the indoor climbing walls I've been on so far. Oh and they look awesome too. I chose them because they were an affordable option that did not have any leather on them (I was looking for a cruelty free shoe)

This wasn't even a little bit too small. It was in the range of a full two sizes too small. I wear a 6.5 in 99% of the shoes I buy. Much of the feedback claims that the fit is true to size, but even still, I played it safe and bought the equivalent of a size 7. I kid you not, I could barely get the whole shoe onto my foot and once enough cramming had been done, my toes were completely curled on the inside. I returned them immediately. This isn't a huge deal but honestly, how hard would it be to size these appropriately? I understand some leeway of a half size to a full size in difference but I would have had to buy an 8.5 or even a 9 to have them fit correctly. Do some research on your customers, or at the very least, pull out a tape measure once in awhile guys.

These shoes are great for just starting out! If you are unsure about what shoes to get, these are good starters for you to get the feel of what you may want in a shoe. My street shoe is 71/2 and I got the 38.5. They fit perfectly for me. They ran a little tight, but not unbearable which is what you want. Even if they are too tight, they will loosen with wear. These were my first rock climbing shoes. They look cool, and they feel great. The only thing is if you're going for originality these won't be the case. Other beginners got these shoes as well, so the week after I got these I started noticing a lot of women had them as well. I'll probably go with a different shoe next time.
