Nirvana Futons Stanford Futon Set - Queen Size, Frame, 8" Mattress, Twill Burgundy Cover

I am totally pleased with this futon. First the mattress comes early. That is because it has to expand , it take up to 72 hrs for it to be fully expanded. So when the frame comes it’s ready to be put on the frame . The instructions were clear,the parts were packed extremely well. You can tell it didn’t come from China!!!! I was looking at day beds to fill the space but after reading many reviews I chose this. I am extremely happy I chose this way. It is so comfortable , I’ll be taking my afternoon naps in here I think. Lol. This is a quality product, you can tell when you unpack it. This company cares. !!!!

Good quality frame and the mattress is heavy and thick. Instructions were well written. Note that it came in three separate shipments so look for emailed tracking numbers.

Be aware the futon came in three boxes within 3-4 days of each other and the first box came about a week after being ordered so plan for at least two weeks from ordering. We only had tracking info for the first box and would not have known there were multiple boxes except for the other reviews. The futon is very sturdy and took 3-4 hours to set up. The mattress is more comfortable than a typical “college futon“ or sleeper sofa, but obviously no replacement for a bed. We are using it in a man cave/family room mostly as a couch but also has extra sleeping space on family visit. It looks nice though not fancy and work great for what we needed it for.

Honestly, when I received the product in different shipments I was nervous. I didn't know what to expect. Laying all of the pieces out made it look like an overwhelming project. But once you go through the step by step instructions you can see the fruits of your labor take shape.Building the frame was super easy and the wood is excellent quality. I only had one issue during the assembly and that was with attaching the upper half to the lower half. I don't feel the instructions were very clear on that process. I had installed the screw hole covers before joining those two pieces and I had to pry those covers off in order to loosen the lower frame screws. This way, both halves could be joined. Removing the screw hole covers made me scratch the wood a little, but it wasn't all too bad.Apart from the small issue with assembly, the futon is very comfortable to lay on. I had some family stay a couple of nights and they mentioned how comfortable it was. They didn't want to get out of bed in the morning! I love this futon and I'm extremely pleased with the end result. One additional thing I would say is that the mattress doesn't smell very good whenever you receive it. It smells a bit like a barn. However, once you air it out for a few days the smell WILL go away. So no need to worry about that.Great product and I would recommend this to anyone!

This is a good quality and comfortable futon.

What was/is good?Shipping was quick. The frame itself is made with nice wood.What is bad?Assembly is a bit difficult and time consuming.The filling is horrible and separates upon in places upon sitting.The zippered cover is useless because no when you unzip it to wash, which you will want to do, the filling comes apart everywhere. And forget putting it back on.You can’t put it down flat for sleeping easily. Takes two people and removing the poorly filled Duvet. When I first set it up and sat on it I immediately thought I’d return it and that was with only knowing about the discomfort when sitting. I decided to keep it since it was so much work to assemble and I didn’t want to deal with disassembling and boxing it up. I was planning to get a foam topping to insert instead and hope for the best. So I unzipped it on one side with plans to wash the covering and then put it back together with a thin piece of microfiber foam.The pictures will show you that was the wrong thing to do! What a mess.I’m not sure how to put this back together. But the zipper does not serve any purpose.

The frame and mattress look nice but the mattress has to be taken off the frame to convert from bed to couch. The sliding tracks are milled wood recesses and have too much friction and weight on them for a single person to change from bed-to-couch. Couch-to-bed can be done with one person (gravity assists you).We have used this item in a short term rental. Eventually many of the screw connections became loose because people had to use so much tugging and pulling to try to change between the bed and couch position. We have had a guest's child wet the bed (the futon mattress) and there is no way to mitigate this so now looking to replace the mattress. In other words, the mattress is a bit hard to keep clean especially if you don't use a liquid barrier sheet.In conclusion, it looks nice and is pretty comfortable but a real pain to switch positions and a bit hard to keep it looking (and smelling) nice.
