Decided to try this out, on the basis that it was worth a try, and some of the theory matched our understanding of touch signals. It is *unreal* the degree to which this rendered the needle completely painless, it almost seemed like a magic trick, except that all I had to do was hold a small plastic thing in place and do the injection.

I bought this a few years ago and it has been a complete life saver. As an adult I have a horrible fear of needles so I keep this in my purse and every time I have to get a shot I ask them to use it and I cannot even tell when the shot goes in. It's so crazy how this actually keeps you from feeling the needle. My daughter isn't as bad with needles as I am but I will ask them to use it with her when she has to get a shot and she also says you can't feel the needle at all. One of the best purchases I've made hands down.

I have to give my wife an Insulin shot twice a day. Every shot was painful and we both really hated to do it, but she has to have the insulin! The Shotblocker was an inexpensive trick to try. It looked like it had a reason to work: I have serious nerve disease, and understand pain and the techniques to stop or mask it. One often effective way to reduce the apparent pain is to overwhelm the body with stimulus. Make so many nerves receive so much stimulation they can't deliver information about additional stimulus. Capsaicin and TENS electroshock therapy both work this way, so the concept behind Shotblocker seemed sound. With Shotblocker, you poke a lot of "pretend" holes in the skin that don't hurt, then hit it with the real hole in the middle and often the body can't process the extra stimulation and sensation of the real puncture. Simple. Effective. IT WORKS! She reports it nearly always helps! While nothing will dull the occasional really big hurts when a nerve is directly damaged by the needle, the Shotblocker "hides" many of her injections-meaning she did not feel the needle puncture. It helps with many more. She will not take a shot without it!! Technique suggestion: The instructions say to "pinch" a chunk of fatty tissue and inject in the middle. Her injections are to her stomach and the "pinch" does not collect a suitable amount of tissue. So, I lay Shotblocker flat, pressing the Shotblocker firmly against her stomach with 3 fingers which I keep straight. This provides a stable "tower" above her skin. I lay my other hand (with the syringe) against my three finger "tower" for stability, and do the injection. This technique helps keep the syringe motionless during her often long injections. I clean hers about once a week with the same alcohol pad I used to clean her skin before I did the injection. I would encourage using one per person unless you clean it well between uses. Soapy water by hand would be suitable as would a dishwasher, probably should use the upper shelf. Shotblocker really does help. I won't say every time, but it helps almost all the time and completely hides many injections. She likes it so well I just ordered one for each of my grandchildren to take to the doctor. SUGGESTION to Bionix Health at Home: Do these in pink and blue so the kids can have their own color choice. ***Two Years of use and this is still a must have product! It has been two years and about a thousand injections later and this is still used, every time. Cannot say enough good things about this product. Where is a sixth star when you need it?? Buy It!!

I used this one time for my insulin injections when I first was diagnosed but then found out that pinching a good amount of tummy fat and then injecting isnt painful at all. So I actually threw this away but not because it wasnt a good product. The product itself works good but for how I was using it, it was a bit difficult. I could see this helping parents give their kids shots or injections though!

I am a pediatric provider, and have used this "shotblocker" as well as the "buzzy" pain blocker both on myself and on my patients. I underwent IVF and I was required to give myself IM injections of a medication in oil for 10 weeks straight, so I got to try out a lot of different "pain blocking" techniques. This shotblocker did decrease the pain a little bit, but not as much as Buzzy does. I used the shotblocker a few times, and then didn't use it anymore, because I found that it really didn't do that much. My patients also seem to like Buzzy the best as well (it utilizes cold along with vibration to decrease pain). Buzzy is also much cuter (comes decorated as a ladybug or a bee, among other designs). The upside to shotblocker is that is is cheaper than Buzzy, so you can easily give it a try without spending a lot of money.

AMAZING! My daughter named this "the magic thing", and it truly seems like magic! The trick is to press really hard, which serves both as a nerve distraction as well as a mental distraction because you're focused on this and not the shot. I have used it myself, and so have two of my kids. We also purchased Buzzy. The concept was great and it's certainly much cuter, but it's expensive, complicated, and we found it didn't work. The ice wings don't stay frozen unless you carry it in a little cooler with additional ice packs, and the vibration wasn't near strong enough, so when even lightly pressing it on your skin you could hardly feel it. Very disappointing.

Ok, so I heard about this when I was lamenting on Facebook how I hate taking my daughter to get her vaccines and the pain that comes with them. We are on an alternative schedule and she gets 1-2 per month. I hate hearing her cry, in fact my husband is the one that stays in the room with her for the shots. Anyway one of my girlfriends mentioned her Pediatricians offices uses a "Shotblocker" and that is seemed to work well for her son. She sent me a link to the Amazon page & I immediately ordered one. I showed my husband, who was a skeptic but he agreed to try it out on our next visit. I cannot tell you how excited I was to find out that it worked GREAT!! Our daughter happened to have to get 2 vaccs at her last appt - one in each leg and guess what - NO CRYING!! First time ever and she is 6 months!! He was out of the exam room before I could even make an appt for next month and there were no tears. The Pedi office was so impressed they are thinking about ordering them to keep in the office. The nurse thought it was wonderful and was going to tell other parents just incase they did not get any in. THANK YOU SHOTBLOCKER!!

My now 7 year old receives nightly injections with a diabetic sized needle tip and prior to buying the shot blocker, it was a battle each night. His doctor tried prescribing us a numbing cream and even when we would remember to put it on 30 min prior, he would still scream bloody murder. There is nothing worse for a mother than having to old her child down against their will because they NEED the medicine. Night time was stressful for everyone. One night last year when my son was 6, I had just about had it. I came online and did some research and found the shot blocker and the buzzy and bought them both and paid for next day shipping. I would have paid 100s that night to make the injections easier for my son. When we got both, I let my son choose which one to try first. He chose the buzzy. He was still very hesitant and still took some time to “be ready”. He reported that if the normal pain was an 8, the buzzy brought it down to a 6. The next night, we tried the shot blocker. This time, he reported it to be between a 3-4! I thought maybe it was a fluke. But the next night, still the same! We’ve been using this for a year and we can now give our son his injection within 2 minutes and no tears. I’m not going to lie and say it never hurts, because occasionally it does. Sometimes the injection site won’t be the best or the medicine doesn’t absorb right away, etc. But it is the difference between 30 minutes of coaxing, pleading, begging and tears to <2 minutes and done. We even bought a second one to have on hand in the event one gets lost. One trick we have learned over time is to hold it lightly against the injection site at first, then right before the injection, press it down a little firmer for the best results.

Extremely useless product. A gadget made out of cheap plastic, not suitable for adult diabetic patients as the slot is simply not big enough to be used with an insulin pen. Disappointed with the purchase with not return, 1k down the drain.

The Shot Blocker is awesome! We used it for getting our kids their vaccines, and they didn’t even notice the injection! Great product! I would definitely recommend this for people with babies and kids!
