Is this brush ok to use with a blow dryer?

It's fine to use with a blow dryer. It isn't really a styling brush. It great to detangle, but as a straightener it doesn't grip the hair very tight. I love mine.

How does this brush compare to the 1998 paddle brush?

The nature of manufacturing Large Bamboo Paddle Hairbrush was being through a bespoke manufacturer and has not actually changed a lot. It was a wooden handle brush with plastic quills glued into the base. The wood has moved from Beech back in 1998 to Bamboo and the quills are now nylon.
