can this be used for drawing on like preparing stencils to use with a sewing machine and then tear away

It's too lightweight for stencils. I draw quilting designs on it and stitch through my drawing onto the quilt. Then I tear away the paper. It's perfect for that application, but I don't think stencils will hold up at all.
