Sword Art Online Complete Season 1 Collection Episodes 1-25

Yes it is dubbed. But you can choose if you are not that type of person. This is my favorite anime, of all time. If you like romance and action, with a tragic twist at the end you will enjoy this. Think of Romeo and Juliet, except in a video that they are not able to get out of. No one wants them together, but their love is the most powerful thing in the game. And if you enjoy a nice bada** beat everything without a sweat, there is alot of that too! Hahaha! Please give this a try, go to crunchyroll watch it on there. Then buy this dvd, to have the ability to watch it in the future when those services are down! (Or you just are not able to afford it). Regardless, Season 1 is the best no need for the rest!

I brought this knowing that it probably is Region b/2. And it was! It didn't say in specs for discs region. But the picture are spot on on how blu ray case look like, the discs has beautiful pictures on them. CON: This will not play on US blu ray player that doesn't has setting for regions or made to be play from any regions. Also If you want to only able to watch it on TV then you probably will have to buy multi, region B player, etc. PRO: if you do have PC disc external player that can change setting of regions. Then you are good to go! I do have one. And I always keep that it on Region B/2 setting, just in case. No matter what region blu ray anime are on, they always have subtitles which are a big bonus thumb ups for me! Extra info: I just finished watching first episode before commenting. The picture are beautiful, lot sharper and clearer than what I see on Netflix/Hulu/Crunchyroll/etc. in my opinion. So I am very glad I finally got first season! I am looking forward to get other seasons. This is one of my fave RPG which I never get tired of re-reading or re-watching.

This is indeed a region B disc, but if you have a UB820 player, the region skip trick worked for me!

Aniplex needs to stop being greedy and release a US copy already that isn’t a 250$ collectors edition

++ Great Video Quality ++ Play All feature is nice (All the episodes are chapters so you can skip chapter to go through all the episodes) -- Special features are very lacking. I didn't watch but it looked like it was just episode opening/ending videos

The case is very well made and solid, Each Disc also has a cool textured engraving of some of the characters on them as well. Also a bonus is it came earlier then excepted too.

The case was in tact when it arrived. Thankfully it was authentic. Really loved season one of SOA.

This four disk set includes all twenty five episodes of the 'Sword Art Online' anime’s first season. The series is set in a world where full dive virtual reality has become reality through the NerveGear. Kazuto Kirigaya, known by the online alius of Kirito, was a beta tester for the world’s first Virtual Reality MMORPG, Sword Art Online, and was one of thousands to eagerly join the game on its first day of general release only to find himself unable to log out. Trapped in the game the players are told that getting killed means dying in real life and the only way to survive and escape is to clear the game. Based on a series of Light Novels, 'Sword Art Online' is one of those series that has just as many people hating it as loving it due to its popularity and its influence on subsequent media. Personally I think the series is one of my favourite anime but I would say that it does start of relatively mediocre only to improve as it progresses. This first season covers the first two arcs of the series, the Aincrad Arc and the Fairy Dance Arc. The Aincrad Arc (episodes 1 to 14) covers the story of the first two Light Novels and is set within the Sword Art Online game. This is an entertaining arc with some very good action, some nice world building for the setting and has some nice humour on occasion. The only real problem with this arc is that, due to it adapting the storyline chronologically, episodes 2 to 7 adapt short stories written at a later date and while they are good with some nice character development, they aren’t quite as good as the main plot. The Fairy Dance Arc (episodes 15 to 25) is probably my favourite of the two story arcs in this set, covering Light Novels 3 and 4 set within the ALfheim Online game and tying up loose ends from the Aincrad Arc. The action in this arc is just as good, if not better than, that in the original arc and also has some very nice humour, as well as an interesting setting. The main problem with this arc is that the main villain is nowhere near as good as the villain from the first arc and is somewhat pathetic. This arc also has the rather infamous Asuna Slug scene that has many detractors and even I would admit feels a little out of place. The animation of the series is very good throughout this first season with some great fight choreography, good character design and some truly beautiful landscapes and backgrounds. The set includes both the English and Japanese versions of the audio and although the English dub is very good I still prefer the original Japanese. Having said this most of the English voice actors give excellent performances with Bryce Papenbrook (Kazuto Kirigaya/Kirito), Cassandra Lee (Suguha Kirigaya/Leafa), Stephanie Sheh (Yui) and Todd Haberkorn (Nobuyuki Sugou) all being particularly noteworthy. The only real voice I didn’t like too much was Cherami Leigh as Asuna who I felt sounded far too young for the character. For special features the set includes the usual trailers, and clean versions of the opening and closing credit scenes. Overall this is a very good anime series that I really enjoy watching and feel is easily worth a full five stars.

I really enjoy SAO and have been wanting to buy it on bluray since the first season finished airing. The Region A sets are too expensive, but once I bought a region-free player, I bought this and a lot of other anime on bluray, including Ordinal Scale, SAO season 2, and all of alicization and alicization war of underworld. The only one I don't own is Extra Edition and GGO Alternative.
