ASUS TF300T-A1-BL 10.1-Inch 16GB Tablet (Blue)

I chose to give this product five stars due to its amazing performance, sleek and professional look, and user friendly operating system. I would highly recommend this product for consumers searching for their first tablet and who are mostly familiar with the Android operating system (this tablet comes stock with ice cream sandwich "4.0" but is available to upgrade to jelly bean "4.1") I have used the Apple Ipad before and I enjoyed it but the Asus is compatible with most of my tech. I am an android user so I am more efficient using an android platform. If you are not an android user, it is just as easy to figure out as the Ipad, very user friendly. I particularly like the resolution on the screen, very crisp and clean picture whether it be video, recording, or scrolling through screens. All of the other features are very impressive on this device. HIGHLY RECOMMEND FOR NEW USERS.

I was pleasantly surprised by the ASUS TF300. I already own an IPAD2 and wanted to get a low cost tablet for the family. I was afraid that the ASUS would fall way short when compared to the IPAD2. It costs a lot less so I thought it would do a lot less. The Transformer's screen is bright and vibrant when using apps or watching netflix. However when it displays websites, the resolution suffers a bit. The same websites come out clearer on the IPAD. I was told that it's not due to the tablet but how most websites are optimized for IOS vs Android. Hopefully this will change since there are so many great Android products out now. I was also surprised at the responsiveness of the touchscreen and how smoothly I can navigate through the tablet's contents. The shape of the ASUS tablet also makes it better for watching movies. The plastic backing doesn't feel as sturdy as aluminum, but its never given me problems. I've read reviews about the ASUS pad crashing all the time but it's happened to me only a couple times so far (some apps and safari on my IPAD also crash every so often so it's not specific to Android). I'm more of a casual user and find the IPAD2 easier to use since IOS spoon feeds you, but after using both products I don't see much difference between the two performance-wise. IOS and android both have the apps I use or feel are practical. I also could have bought two ASUS TF300's for the price of one IPAD2. The expandable memory on the ASUS is also very convenient. All in all, this is a solid device that I am very happy with.

Waited a good week for this as a birthday present, and when it got here, there is some sort of crack in the screen, or a piece of hair underneath the glass, or something, when I got it. It's very prominent, and it's a brand new product. Very disappointed. Now I have to send it back and deal with a lot of trouble to get the product that I paid for. Also, I don't know how long I have to charge it for, but I left it charging for half an hour already (there is an orange light in the power button), and it doesn't turn on at all. I hold the power button for 1.5 seconds or more (as the instructions say) and there is no response whatsoever.

I got this tablet because my son, who is not a large man, covers a lot of miles walking to classes at college. This tablet replaced his 15" Windows laptop, taking several pounds and a lot of bulk out of his pack - and thus he was able to switch down to a smaller pack, saving even more weight. The tablet isn't quite everything you could hope for. Typing on it takes a little getting used to, but he reports that with a few minutes' reorientation, it's natural enough that you aren't thinking about it after a page or two. The screen is small, but that's the tradeoff: if you want a smaller package, you get a smaller display. The WiFi connection is quick and stable. He reports that even though he is NOT technically astute by any means - that's his younger brother's forte - he was able to download a few apps to improve its utility, specifically Microsoft-compatible document apps, and customize its interface to his liking with little difficulty. He hasn't had to test the battery life at all. It's still going strong at the end of the day. For my own part I'm a little concerned at the durability of the teeny-tiny connector for power. I worry that it will wear out before long and perhaps adding an aftermarket wireless charging accessory would forestall that eventuality. That said, similarly tiny connectors like iPod jacks and micro USB connectors seem to hold up fairly well with daily use, so maybe it won't be a problem. All in all, it seems to be a winner. [update January 2016] My son has been using this little Asus laptop nonstop for a few years now. It continues to serve as his primary school computer, eminently portable and useful. He is completely pleased with its performance and is in no hurry to replace it. Well done, Asus. On the strength of this continued good performance, I am upgrading this product to five stars.

Good tablet for the price but I bought it back in 2012. Works great as long as you have a good wifi connection. Storage is good, and it takes micro sd cards. The optional keyboard gives another 10 hours of battery, but i didn't go for it. all in all, a good price for a good tablet as long as you don't expect LTE cause you not gonna get it. WIFI only.

I can watch Netflix on here for about 2 hours and then I have to reboot it because it freezes up. More trouble than its worth. You're better off buying someone's used smartphone without a SIM card and connecting it to WiFi. This thing will just frustrate the daylights out of you.

I've only had it for a week and I'm very glad I got it. I've had a 32GB iPad (1st generation) for a year or so. Mostly I used it to get a feel for what a tablet-style unit was like. I always intended to get something better when I knew more about what would be useful for me. I'm not an "Apple fanatic", so an iPad didn't really fit my needs. I have no desire to create an Apple account and to be tied to whatever Apple says is approved for me. Now, don't get me wrong; the iPad was indeed a superb piece of equipment. I won't be surprised if the iPad eventually survives longer; but without ongoing Apple account usage, it's hardly worth it. Someone with other Apple equipment would be very happy with the iPad. For the cost, though, this ASUS is already better. I suspect that any future replacement will cost even less and be better still. Or maybe it'll just last until I tire of it. I don't detect any flaws in basic design or engineering. I've downloaded and skimmed the ASUS user guide. That's about all I need to make good use of it. In a week, I've already gotten more features working than I did for the iPad. (Lack of an Apple account limits what can be done, of course.) I'm not concerned over the 16GB vs. 32GB storage limits. I doubt I'll fill up the 16GB. But if I do, external SD card storage is better for me anyway. And the ability to move files between PC (or my network/servers) and the tablet is much improved for me. For my convenience, I added an ASUS Mobile Dock a couple days later. I would have bought that when buying the tablet, but I wanted to know this was a useful device first. After the first two days, I knew this was the right choice for me. Maybe after a few months I'll have something negative to add to this review. For now, I have no negatives at all.

But mine wasn't the normal situation. I received the tablet and a few days later had problems with it. It fixed itself for about a week and then the digitizer went out. By then it was too late to return the device. So I replaced the digitizer and was good for about two more weeks. Then, the backlight inverter board blew a resistor (slam head on desk at this point). So I am still waiting to replace that since you can't get the board by itself. You have to purchase a new LCD panel altogether which is about 60-80 USD. So I do like the tablet and it works great, when it works. Just bad luck on my part I guess.
