Easy to use. Give exact temperature. Lightweight and good quality

Units will not stay set and continually default to Celsius. Units only worked for 1 day before they give an error code and will not function at all. Currently garbage and a waste of money. I spent $8 on replacement batteries and that did not fix the problem so I am out $30 overall for two nonfunctioning devices.

Harbor Freight has discontinued their small inexpensive infrared thermometer. This doesn’t have the laser pointer but is still a good replacement for kitchen work for determining the temperature of sauté pan surfaces. It works well. When I changed it to Fahrenheit the setting held. The temperature seems accurate on air and solid temperature settings, it works less well when shooting a temp on the surface of a clear liquid.

The size of this thermometer is great. However, it does have a few quirks which has caused me to remove a star. First, I'm not sure how trustworthy its readings are. When I've pointed it at boiling water, it has said 150 F. Could be user error though- it’s not always clear what it’s measuring and you do have to hold it down to get a reading. Secondly, to change from C to F, you must push a pin into a tiny hole and click a button. The problem is, you have to do that nearly each time you turn it on, as it constantly and randomly reverts to Celsius. Not a problem if you prefer Celsius readings, but annoying for us imperial folks.

Works well, but the display is too small and dim to read. Also, I had it on farenheit, but it reverted to metric and I cannot remember how to switch it again.

Product did not work. Inserted batteries and thermometer never came on. Totally worthless waste of money. 8/3/21Update: To seller's credit, bestmeter contacted me after I wrote the above review. They shipped me a new one, free of charge and the second one works. This was after I had already returned the first one and obtained a refund. You have to give them credit for making it right.

ordered this infrared for use at work. I needed something quick and accurate and i needed something that wouldnt take up a lot of space. I was worried for the build quality before it arrived as the price is pretty low, but I am very happy with the make and feel now that it's in my hands. the hard plastic has a good weight to it and considering how small it is thats definitely a good thing since it can be easy to forget in a pocket. the button is sturdy and the unit reads fast. a single press will hold the read temp. you can hold it down to scan a broad area. one click and in a second I have all the information I need to make my job that much easier. I will definitely be purchasing from this seller again. already suggesting to my colleagues. exceeded expectations.

I was looking for an IR thermometer with the smallest possible sensor footprint, in order to fit into very tight spaces. Specifically, I wanted to be able to determine the temperature of individual surface-mount components on a PCB, even when they're very close to other parts. Most of these low-cost IR thermometers are quite bulky at the measurement-end (unnecessarily so) and make it difficult to guess which component the tool is actually 'seeing'. This one has the smallest tip I could find, so you can get up close, and seems to work well. If you press and hold the measure button, it will show live updates as you move around, making it easier to find the hottest point. Short of a very expensive IR camera lab-grade instrument, this gets you what you need, as you can find hotspots and compare them against non-hotspots to get an accurate temperature differential (which is exactly what I'm after, so absolute accuracy isn't as critical). That said, it also does appear to be pretty accurate; I've only used it at room temperature and above (up to about 120'F) so far. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one of these. (To make this type of measurement, forget about anything with a laser pointer, the parallax makes it completely useless.)
