OliveNation Candied Orange Peel Slices 1 lb (16 oz.)

This time of year I love to have Pannetone, but manufacturers have cut way way down on the number of orange peel pieces, so it was either not bother eating it at all, or get my own orange peel! The quality and flavor of this one is more delicious than I could have ever wished for. And it's not overly sweet and sugary either. If you're looking for a true orange peel experience, you'll not be able to find anything better than this.

I received my candied lemon and orange peels and they are PERFECT for all my Christmas baking in the kitchen! Their flavors are beautiful and I love the fact that they are pliable and soft enough that when you bake with them, they wont chip a tooth because they weren't petrified before being put into the baked goods. I have used these delicious peels in my fruitcake, German Tea Cookies, Florentines and am going to dip some in dark chocolate as a special holiday treatie tomorrow. I was a bit concerned when I read that another review claiming that they were slimy - all I can say is that they are not. They have been candied (boiled in sugar water) and so they are citrusy, sweet, yet pliable. Just what you need when you bake!

I'm always hesitant to buy perishables through Amazon, especially when the purchase doesn't fall w/in a Prime delivery window... one never knows if the item is fresh or about to expire. I took a chance based on other reviews, people seemed pleased with this product. I was hosting a dinner party and was running short on time to make my own candied orange peels for Italian Margaritas. These arrived w/in an extended delivery window, but still on time, and were still fresh. The shipping box also wasn't crushed, which is a shout-out not to UPS, but to the actual small business and employee who packed it correctly- thank you!! Overall, I'll buy again, especially since my next dinner party commands traditional Margaritas with candied lemon peel! Really happy with OliveNation!

I bought these to use in a chutney recipe. When the orange peel arrived, it was very sticky on the outside, almost dripping in syrup. The flavor was rather bitter as well. After making the chutney recipe, I put the remaining peel in a mason jar, closed it tightly and put it in the pantry. Five months later, I rediscovered the jar and was surprised to see such a great improvement in taste and texsture. The sticky syrup had been absorbed, resulting in a tastier peel with almost no bitterness. Now, my family has found the new and improved peel. They have practically eaten the entire jar.

Mine came in a different container. It is a little more bitter than I would have liked. I think they left too much of the bitter pith on the peels. When I make homemade food using the whole orange, I take 75% of the pith off so the dish is not quite so bitter. It will be good for my baking to add some contrast to the sweets. It is soft and very fresh and I could never in a million years find such a quality product where I live! I would have to make it and if you have ever made candied fruit, it is quite a process! I would purchase this product and others from Olive Nation.

This is certainly not an orange peel candy product, it is like a candied citrus you would buy for a fruitcake. The pieces I received are tough, not easy to chew. They need more time cooking to soften up. They are also sticky, you could probably roll them in sugar to make something like the traditional orange peel candy if you don't mind the toughness. They are sticky enough to hold onto the sugar, just put them aside to dry out. I tried making a batch of candied orange peel at home and they were so much more tender and tasted like orange rather than the chemical taste and smell from the purchased product. I took the peel from 6 oranges and it yielded more peel than came in the purchased bag. I know this is a labor intensive item to do right, they left too much of the pith on the slices and this makes the strips taste more bitter and also adds to a smell. The extra cooking and draining would make the slices more tender and tasteful. I should have read the reviews more carefully and saved myself some money.

I ordered my first bag of Candied Orange Peel Slices and they were a bit on the thin side and not plump but I did use them in my baking since I didn't know any better. A few weeks later I ordered another bag and this time the slices were nice and thick and plump.. just beautiful. Not sure why there was such a vast difference between bag #1 and bag #2 but I will reconsider purchasing this product again....

Really reved up the flavor of Christmas bread and muffins.

iN THE PAST i COULD EASILY FIND CANDIED ORANGE PEEL, AND OTHER CANDIED PEEL PIECES IN ANY SUPERSTORE. nOT LATELY , SO i WAS HAPPY TO FIND THIS ONE AT aMAZON. i USE I FOR BAKING SWEET BREADS, MOSTLY YEAST ONES. i CHOP IT IN SMALL CUBES FIRST, AND USE ABOUT A CUP OR LESS. SOMETIMES, nUTS AND THE OTHER CANDED FRUIT AS WELL.

I haven’t used them yet but they are for a cookie recipe.

They were dried out and very tough. I threw them out.

Exactly what i needed to complete my recipe.
