I am also finding "Mongolia: Discover the Real Mongolia," a travel guide written by former Peace Corps Volunteers Nathan Chamberlain, Leslie Chamberlain, Ashlee Christian, and Andrew Cullen (Other Places Publishing, 2012), to be very helpful, as it presents a less establishment view of practicalities than does Blunden's book. By contrast, Blunden includes more history and context. Review: Great Guide - Excellent practical guide. I haven't been there yet, but this book seems to have everything covered.

Ottima guida scritta con il giusto distacco e la vera passione. perfetta anche nelle notizie pratiche e fondamentale per avere un quadro generale di un paese così lontano ed affascinante. La consiglio

Good on culture and background histort, clearly well researched but no match for the Lonely Planet as a good travelling companion

I was very disappointed with this as a guidebook. It does not give guides to most of the sites I visited - even important sites like Onghin Khid and Tovkhon monasteryies are omitted. The map of UB was inaccurate too. If you want amusing anecdotes about Mongolia, buy this book: if you want hard facts go for the Lonely Planet instead.
