Fit as expected for 2008 Mazda 5

leaking after a few months
You get what you pay for I guess. Already replaced, maybe 10 months before leaks? Not good quality.

Put on Mazda 5 without issues
I replaced one blown rear shock absorber on my Mazda 5 with this. I purchased 2, because the other one will not last much longer, either. The installation was as simple as it can be. I had to lower the car a bit before I was able to push the shock over the two bolts at the top - either this one is a bit shorter than the stock shocks, or they get pulled out more over time. Either way, no big deal and it drives like new. Time will show if they last longer than the stock shocks.Update: A few months later the other shock started to leak and I replaced it as well. This time, I had problems removing the old shock because most of the oil was gone and it would not stay compressed. When extended, it can't get pulled out. Because I did not have help and 2 hands are not enough to compress the old shock and pull it out of the wheel well at the same time, I had to improvise with a piece of wire and a screw driver. Both new shocks still work fine.

hold their own, good for stock replacement, apparently good enough for modified setups for ?
Worked to replace my blown out raceland struts on my 2007 Mazda 3 s, direct fit although it was much slimmer than the one replaced. However it functioned fine as a replacement and fixed the clunking noise coming from the rear end. Fast forward 1+ months and these struts are holding up still! Im slammed 3+ inches in the rear so these were never designed to withstand such an agressive spring rate. None the less great purchase, build quality is so so but they hold their own. Worst case they blow out and you replace again for less than cost of one you would buy at autozone or o reillys!

Shocks degraded quickly. After only 6 months and about 3500 miles the shocks are bad. I only drive 14 miles round trip to work and back home and I'm middle aged, so not driving crazy. I noticed the car didn't feel as stiff when I first installed these shocks. I pulled them off to find they have very little dampening left. Example, I can depress the shock with one finger while holding the shock in my other hand. I still had the original shocks and they require a lot more pressure to depress. The return rate after compressing these shocks is very slow now. There is also a drop in the already little resistance about 3/4 way through the compression and then it firms up again. It's almost as if a seal is giving out at one point then resealing, kind of weird. I ended up putting the stock shocks back on. I replaced the org. shocks because I believe in PM on my cars. I've always heard good things about monroe and wonder at this point if they are real monroe shocks. They have a sticker but anyone can have a sticker made and slap it on a black shock. This is my experience and I personally do not plan to buy these again.

Went right in
Went in quickly and easily. Granted I had to take the passenger unit back off once I realized I forgot to move the dust shield off the old one to the new one, oops. Even with that rework on that one it was less than an hour to swap both units and be done. Way better than the utterly shot and useless ones we took off that were purely decoration at the time of removal, no dampening of anything going on anymore. These are way better than those were.

inexpensive and better build quality than the Chinese Knock-off replacements ( avoid Pr - C ... cheap but... well... cheap)
Fits well and is inexpensive. Arrived quickly to middle of Canada.Definitely softer rebound than OEM... feels not quite as solid and connected to road as what I remember.Remember that the rubber bump-stop ( and splash-cover) from original shocks must be transferred before attaching shock to the bearing-cup and then installing into car.Holding the square top-of-shaft in a vice while tightening the mounting nut (bearing-cup) works pretty well.

Good performance
Seems ok. Everything good. I replaced rear and front and have now a really new car driving feel. Just want to add a suggestion, not someone doing my mistake. As giving a good review wants some efforts, I'm trying to be essential. 1. Hard tighten the upper shock bolt over the shock mount. (I had noise in the rear after installation. Thinking that the shocks were problematic, uninstalled those and found my mistake). 2. If you don't replace with new the bumpers, be sure to clean well the inside part before installing on the shocks.
