Quality costs Money...
...and this is exactly what this 4K player is, QUALITY. From the moment you take it out from its box you know it is a joy to behold. It is heavy (no flimsy plastic here), solely built and looks the part. Having just bought a 4K tv (Sony) I wanted to make sure I got the full benefit of the incredible picture that 4K gives. Although I do not, as yet, have any 4K Blu-rays, the Blu-rays I have watched are so much brighter and clearer and even sound better than through my older LG Blu-ray player. At the moment, like most of the world right now, we are all stuck inside for a while (maybe a long while) so we might as well make the best of it and watch those DVDs and Blu-rays that have been sitting in your cupboard for quite some time. I just watched Paddington and Paddington 2 and thoroughly enjoyed them both - more so in this player than ever before. I particularly like the fact that I can feed (is that the right word to use) Netflix and Prime through the player and the result is amazing - although to be honest the TV itself does do a remarkable job with both these as well. (We are lucky to have a 100+mb speed for our internet connection which means no drop out, even when everyone seems to be using the connection at the same time). All I need now is a really good cinema sound system to complete the package, but to be honest, the new Sony TV's sound system is the clearest I have listened to - being over 70 and a bit hard of hearing - so maybe the cinema sound thingy is not essential YET. *****UPDATE***** A quick update. Been using this for a little while now and have discovered that if you set picture quality to AUTO 2 it upscales normal DVDs as well as Blu-ray to 4K. The quality is amazing, it makes DVDs as clear as Blu-rays and Blu-rays like 4K. Stunning.

Great picture and sound for the money but consider your needs and TV
LIkes Slimline, so does not take up too much room. Weighty and good build. Simple and easy to use. Great picture and sound, probably the best for the money. HDR10, Dolby Vision, SACD capabililty with DSD, 2 HDMI outputs for picture and sound separately, is great for upscaling Blu Rays and 4K looks fantastic and sound is much better than streaming. Dislikes No stereo rca out Dolby Vision needs to be set on manually beforehand and removed afterwards. The menu options appear more complex than they need to be imo. Any dirt on the disk can prevent the disc from loading, you can get a black screen. Use an optical wipe and it is then fine. Issue in that the 2nd HDMI switches off when you press stop or play, so use pause and its ok, otherwise you have to select it again on the AV remote. Annoying but get used to using pause. Other Playing 4K content via Netflix app may look sharper on OLED TV, but the colours are excellent and for Still Game, which is not 4K it upscales well and looks more 3D like. 4K films still pricey and limited, but upscaling is great and it is another way to get quality 4K pictures into your OLED TV. I am not sure I would bother using it with my cheap 4K TV, I think standard Blu Ray is good enough for that. It is the HDR10, Dolby Vision and Sound that is unbeatable with a TV that can deliver it. Recommend Yes if you have Blu Rays to upscale and want to buy 4K films to get the best experience with a suitable TV like OLED. Then you can get the best out of it, but you have to consider whether you would prefer to Stream instead. You might not use it as much as you would like to.

A Very Decent Little Player - I Got Another One For My Bedroom.
I used to play my 4K disks on my Xbox but it was way too noisy while spinning the disk so I decided to find a stand alone player. I kept hearing that this unit was really quiet with a great picture/sound quality and I've got to say, I heard right & I'm very impressed. It also upscales DVDs very well not to mention bluray disks and it supports quite a few formats. I quite like the players design/build too, feels very solid for the most part. If I had to have a nitpic at the machine I'd say the players menus are a bit bland and in some cases not very explanitory which will lead you to flick through the manual to find out something like what "video 1" does as opposed to "video 2". Would have been nice if theyd have put the info onscreen. Regardless, it's a nitpic, I'd totally recommend this 4k player.

Absolutely amazing!
I own the first generation of BluRay player ever released by Sony back in 2009. This model is just a different level. Super quiet, smooth action and does not overheat or shut itself down-like the very first release does, not always but can be moody. Upscaling to 4K is brilliant and seriously does make difference. I do not own super expensive TV-Samsung Q65C 4K HDR and all good stuff. Highly recommend this BluRay player not the cheapest however worth the money. Top Tip - get hdmi 2.1 cables to connect to your TV and soundbar - difference in sound is unreal, immense experience!

Really good one strange thing
Really good player but strange thing is if stop film part way through no option to continue where left off, happened once am certain but never since. Haven't measured it but player is large I'd say over 30cm I wish Amazon told people these things . Got it as I upgraded TV for first time in well over twenty years and wanted to upscale to 4k, upscales well but go into options and test which setting works best on your TV. Also for dark scenes the player has brightness settings as well rather than only using TV settings I recently discovered which is nice.

SONY ULTRAHD BLURAY ,DVD, CD 4K TOO
Intuitive in playing of all 8 area territories on dvd. a bit more expensive though worth it in the simple way that it works. High res audio really turns up the ally to feel the disc selection. I'm using a Samsung smart telly and it works just fine!!! Hat's off to Sony KUDOS!!!

A really solid disc player mainly for Blu Ray 4K but DVD too
It seemed expensive at the time but I think it is worth the money. It is solidly built, it looks like the top and bottom plates are quite thick aluminium sheet, and weighty. I've only played Blu Ray 4K discs with it but they look good when played through an LG OLED screen and sound good through a Sonos Dolby Atmos setup. I haven't bothered with any online features because my Amazon Fire Cube does that well enough and the Sony is for those times when the internet is playing up and I want to watch something.

Plays EVERYTHING
I used to have an OPPO Bluray player but that's no longer an option. I had a decent Panasonic UHD player but it wouldn't play SACD media, which although I've only got a few disks, I really missed. I saw this and thought I would give it a go, and have to say it's great. The UHD picture quality on an 85" OLED TV is really good as is the sound through a 12 channel ATMOS/Yamaha set up. For the money, amazing little machine. Can't say I miss having a display on it either, I prefer darkness when watching films so no display suits me fine.

Ich bin begeistert: Leise. Schnell.
Mein TV: a) Pana TX-HZM1508 (OLED) b) PS4 Pro Meine Umgebung: a) Zuspielmaterial Blue Rays und DVDs (ausschließlich Originale).
