Essential impact protection that saves your tailbone on hardpack and icy rails!
For anyone pushing their limits on the slopes or at the skatepark, an unexpected hard landing on an icy sheet or a metal rail can instantly cut a great season short. The Bodyprox Protective Padded Shorts act as an exceptional, highly reliable insurance policy for your lower chassis. They provide high-tier collision defense by placing dense, shock-absorbing EVA foam cushions precisely over your most vulnerable zones: the tailbone, hips, thighs, and sit bones. The true highlight of this protective armor is its specialized 3D ergonomic segmentation. Instead of using a single, rigid sheet of plastic that restricts your movement, Bodyprox uses decoupled foam panels that flex, twist, and bend seamlessly alongside your body's natural mechanics. This architecture is especially valuable for snowboarders and skiers who need to crouch deeply or rotate through tight turns without feeling restricted. The underlying chassis is crafted from a premium Nylon-Spandex blend packed with mesh inserts, ensuring that body heat and sweat escape rapidly. This eliminates the heavy, swampy dampness typical of cheaper safety gear, keeping your core dry and warm from first lift to last chair.

Excellent coccyx (butt) protection
I’m learning how to rollerskate for the first time as a 27yo woman, you know how it is. Popping knees and back pain. For the first time I fell backwards, directly on my butt: straight to the floor. And when I tell you WHEN I TELL YOU that my butt didn’t have even a SINGLE scratch I mean itttt. Direct impact to the coccyx? Non existent. For reference, I’m 5”5’ and weigh about 160lbs so, not too fat, but not too skinny either. Amazing, they are light weight, comfy, very stretchy and I can confirm: very protective! If you’re on the fence, just get these already. Thank me later :)

Good protection and value - updated long term review
I am 62 and recently started inline skating with my son. After taking several hard falls on my hips at a skate park, I decided I needed some protection. These looked like a good value with good protection, so I ordered the large for my 32/33 inch waist. They fit great, not too tight and not too loose and they are very light. The bulk is easily handled under a set of gym shorts. I took a couple of falls on my sore hips the first day and the hip pads definitely helped. I'm sure if I wasn't already bruised, they would have prevented the bruising. I then took a hard fall on my butt the next day and the pad pretty much absorbed all the impact, I was unhurt in a situation I am sure would have bruised my backside. Overall I am very happy with the shorts. I will say, as others here have said, they are very hot, but better hot than hurt. Because of the heat and resulting sweating, they require hand washing as soon as I return from a skate. My only ongoing concern is how the gaps between pads may potentially open and allow some exposure because of the thinness of the shorts material, but I have not experienced that so far. Overall, I think the shorts offer decent protection and are a good value, and if they last any time at all, I feel are worth the price. LONGER TERM UPDATE: I have used these several times a week for over 6 months now and am very pleased with the performance. I have had instances where a fall caused the pad gap to open and lessen the protection, but I have found that wearing something tighter over the top of them completely eliminates that problem. It could be that a smaller size would accomplish that same thing and I may end up getting a smaller size to try that out. So far the shorts are still in good shape even with a lot of falls and washing, both hand and machine. I know they work because I went skating while they were in the wash, and bruised both hips that day. The only drawbacks I have seen are they are a bit awkward to wear while driving to and from skate spots where there is no place to change, and as I mentioned previously, they are very hot. I end up completely soaked, both the shorts and whatever I am wearing over them, after every session even in the winter. I will take that minor inconvenience to get the added protection every time though. I will definitely buy another pair when these finally give out, or sooner.

Finally reasonably priced protective shorts that padded my tailbone.
Finally snowboard padded shorts that protect your tailbone. I’ve tried some of these before and they usually didn’t cover the tailbone fully. After having back surgery I needed to reduce the direct impact of falls on my spine. These fit well over my base layer. The pads are comfortable and thick enough to dampen a hit. They could add a more dense or even plastic shield to the outside to disperse the impact more. The shorts have enough stretch to make a good fit. They look a little bulky under my boarding pants. I took the thigh pads out to allow for the best fit under my shorts and pad the area I am most worried about.

Good quality
Comfortable. Good fit. I’m a thick girl and medium fit great. Had originally bought a large but too big. I wear them when I go skating!

Short term use.
Well for starters I have noticed people complaining of tears or holes on inside of the shorts. If you read the description the holes are designed for pad removal. Had a laugh at some pictures with patches. Now for the goods, I'm a 48 y/o snowboarder who enjoys having a tailbone. I did quite a bit of research on impact shorts and decided to go cheap, which is never good. The shorts ended up working for me with modifications. Day one, the shorts fit under the snowboard pants without much room to spare. Glad my coat was long enough to cover my bum so I didn't look like JLO. The first run I skidded out landed on my bum, success! I felt nothing, my daughter(without pads) did the same thing next to me and it almost took her out. After sitting on the lift chair, sitting anywhere in general I noticed total deflation of the butt pad. When I got home and looked at the butt pad it was thin as a piece of paper. That meant day 2 no butt pad! I had five days to go! I figured my thighs were safe so I took out the right and left lower thigh pads and combined them to form a square and insert them on top of the original butt pad. The thigh pads were denser as well, though still compressed to half the size. I only skidded on my bum one other time during the week but it was a hard and fast and they worked. My final thoughts are you get what you pay for, spend double and possibly have great protection for years to come. Go cheap and get a one time use with having to innovate a new design on the fly. I never cheap on my Mountain Bike gear and feel protected. Go with name brands, Burton, Leatt, GForm, Dainese. You will not be disappointed and won't miss the money when your confident about your gear! Go Shred Haoles!

Offered adequate cushion from my fall
It definitely gave adequate protection when I fell. I like that it’s not restricting and not expensive.

Work very well
I crashed a couple of times on big dry gravely berms on Pseudo Tsuga last week and these shorts protected my thighs and hips so that my only injury was to my ego. These definitely did their job.

Perfect sizing
Thick padding, so your pants will be tight. For the price, it’s worth it.

Super protection for snowboarding
As a beginner snowboarder I highly recommend wearing the protective gear and these padded shorts are awesome. They are comfortable and protect your butt, hips and most importantly your sacrum from falls. After a full day of falling on my butt, I was still able to walk and snowboard again the next day. They also keep you warm, you can sit on the snow in them. Be aware that they are thick, and you may need to go up a size in pants to get your pants over them but this is a well worthwhile problem, when beginning this sport protection is the top priority!
