Best present for yourself or a friend in this busy time
Don't we all seek balance and mindfulness in our lives? But how do we start? Rezvan Ameli's book is all you need (in addition to a piece of paper and a pen). What appears esoteric and difficult to grasp, becomes easy and doable. In the `25 Lessons in Mindfulness' she holds your hand and guides you step by step, no need to join a group, leave your house, or search online. This book is an excellent source for the beginner (as well as for the experienced) who wants to have a tool at hand that helps you find, establish or re-establish your practice. Nothing remains mysterious; you find guidance in sitting down for a few minutes a day, calming your mind, integrating meditation and mindfulness. Those of us who have had the privilege of knowing Dr. Ameli, hear her voice when we read her book, which is refreshingly uncomplicated and superbly concrete. Those of you who don't know her in person will find the teacher who you have been looking for.

Highly recommended for anyone with an interest in mindfulness!
This book gives the most accessible and practical overview of mindfulness that I have come across. Being somewhat of a beginner to mindfulness myself, I have been (re)inspired to deepen and continue my practice after reading this book! It provides all the information you need to start a mindfulness practice. It is also an excellent resource for non-beginners to help deepen or expand one's practice. Each of Ameli's lessons builds naturally on the previous. She provides both a scientific and theoretical background as to why certain practices are done, and how they may have a positive impact on daily life. Ameli shares anecdotes from participants in her mindfulness classes, which are both relatable and touching. Her writing is interactive- she seems to anticipate any thoughts or questions that would naturally arise in someone starting to explore mindfulness. The relatable questions, descriptions, and stories in this book have a way of creating a sense of interconnectedness even to the individual reader.

NOW is the time to read this book!
Ameli’s “25 Lessons in Mindfulness: Now Time for Healthy Living” comes at a time when our society is desperate for mindfulness. In the midst of our fast-paced lives, we all need a step-by-step guide for how to slow down, forgive ourselves and others, embrace the present moment, and see the beauty in everyday life. This book offers just that – it is the best “how-to” book of mindfulness that I have seen. Ameli describes mindfulness in a refreshing way that is accessible to all; it is both intellectual and genuinely heartfelt. Ameli brings her scientific expertise as well as her personal practice and teaching experience to every lesson. Each brief chapter is a friendly invitation to try a simple but powerful practice for mindful living. This book has been (and will continue to be) a wonderful resource for me, both personally and professionally. NOW is the time to read this book!Claire E. Adams, Ph.D.

This is wonderful book!
This book is a clear and readable introduction to mindfulness. Dr. Ameli refers to the teachings of many people, but it is her own gentle, accepting voice that conveys the true meaning of mindfulness. As I read the book, I am already noticing my outlook changing in small but significant ways. I am more aware of my surroundings, my breathing, and even my thoughts and feelings. More important, I am learning to be more curious, patient and accepting towards myself and others. I am looking forward to re-reading the book, and beginning to try some of the practices she describes. I recommend this book for those with a casual interest in the subject as well as those who would like to develop or deepen their own practice in mindfulness.

Congratulations, Dr.Ameli, on this outstanding reflection of your wonderfully helpful mindfulness classes.
This is an outstanding book of mindfulness lessons. Rezvan writes it as if she is in the class teaching it. The book reflects her experience with many students. As she proceeds through the lessons, she reassures and supports the "participant" reader by giving examples of the roadblocks and ongoing challenges to being and always becoming an every more engaged mindful meditator. I can hear her patient and supportive voice in every word of every lesson. In allowing myself to truly experience Rezvan's words, I believe I have become a better therapist, better partner, much better sibling and better friend, both to others and to myself.
