Colin McRae Rally 2.0

As far as rally games go, it's damn realistic and challenging but constantly satisfying when you make a clean corner. It's a substantial improvement on the first with a larger selection of cars, tracks and ways to manage how your car will handle. In short it's a true sequel to the first but it's more of the same, not a bad thing. It's kinda like Nickleback, if you like one of their songs then you'll probably love the rest.

A terribly addictive gaming experience for all the "boy racers" of this world.The game-play is excellent with a multitude of challenging stages for the budding rally driver to tackle. A wide variety of surfaces (from tarmac to gravel to snow and ice) are all faithfully translated into vastly different handling characteristics in your chosen car.You simply have to keep going back for more as you build your skill level through head to head challenges, arcade style racing and ultimately the rally championship itself. You commence as a novice, which should prove about as challenging as taking on your gran in her Morris Minor! However,if you think this is too easy then think again as Intermediate level requires quite a lot of practice. 8 stages on each rally, some driven in the dark and one serious error can result in the difference between a win and 12 points or none at all. Remember, you have to beat the man himself and that's not easy.In common with other titles there is a repair function after each 2 stages- but beware weather conditions can change, so don't ignore you setup- and you've only got 60 mins of allocated time for all the work. If your gearbox needs repair that's 14 minutes before looking at anything else.Then it's on to expert level, and here if you don't have the right car you won't stand a chance. So make sure you have completed all the games various challenges before progressing to this level and that you have unlocked previously inaccessible cars.Now each stage is 10 or 11 stages and you can't afford many slips if you want to win. Totally addictive and with Mcrae possibly in sight of another World Championship interest in this game may well jump in the run up to christmas. My advice is don't miss it and let's hope Codemasters are working on the PS2 version.

I'm reluctant to give this even the four stars that I have. Codies took away 2 of the things that made the first one the peach that it was, and still is.Firstly - the feeling. Without force feedback the first game still made you feel like you were driving on a variety of surfaces. The hiss of the gravel, the crunch of the snow; and dipping (putting a corner wheel off the road to assist cornering) was perfect. This one you fight not to spin if you try itSecond - oh, the biggest sin of all. The look. Scenery? Very nice. The car? Again, just fine. The Roads! They're all tarmac with different colours on them. Flat as a plate. No, no, no - not after the first one.Get the original, or get the 3rd onwards.Only buy this if you're determined to own them all for some sort of nostalgia.

Un clasico de los juegos de rallies. Supuso un cambio brutal con respecto a la primera entrega y Codemaster dejo el liston muy alto y adelantado a su epoca.
