It actuall works!
My smart TV didn't come with a headphone jack, and my wife has decided that she gets headaches if she listens to the TV above a whisper. I wanted to have headphone capability that is independent of where the TV volume is set. We have Direct TV, and also watch Netflix and other apps through the TV. Going through the TV's HDMI ARC gave me absolutely nothing. Toslink to the rescue. I hooked it up using Toslink (the optical audio system) and it worked great. This has three digital inputs, and my TV has those same three outputs, so I was hoping at least one would work. TV speakers work independently of the headphones, which work independently of the Vizio surround sound system. Using it the way we did you will need a volume control for your headphones. But hey, different volumes is what we wanted. I just need to replace the power cord with USB powered, so it shuts off when the TV is off. Make sure you set your TV audio out setting to PCM, otherwise it sounds like a fax. Also, set the converter to whatever your input is, using the little three position switch. And finally, Toslink is not for dummies. Take the protective caps off and plug them in the right way. Enjoy!!!

Worked perfectly for my needs
I have a 4K LG TV and the only audio out I have is Optical, which was currently occupied by the sound bar. I wanted to output the TV audio to my mixer (and out my KRK Rokit speakers), and this worked perfectly. It was the only one I could find with Optical in and and Optical out. I connected the TV's optical out to the 'TOSLink' optical in of this device, got another optical cable and used the output on the device to the input of the LG sound bar. Then used the RCA out to the mixer's RCA input. Then just flipped the switch on the front to "T" mode for 'TOSLink' and it worked perfectly. The only reason I did not give this 5 stars is because the cable length of the AC adapter is abysmally short! Like, I think it's under 3 feet so it required some annoying Tetris of my existing setup.

Didn't do what I thought it would do
Using a Amazon fire stick on TV. Dolby Digital does not pass through the optical audio connection from TV to Receiver. Tried using the Easycel via HDMI using ARC connection on TV and optical audio cable connection to receiver. Received audio but not in dolby digital format.

Solves my Auxiliary (Zone 2) Speaker Problem
My Samsung Smart TV is hooked up to my Onkyo receiver for surround sound. I also have a set of auxiliary (called Zone 2) speakers in another room. The Onkyo receiver requires an analog hookup (RCA jacks) for the Zone 2 speakers. I wanted to run sound from apps on my Smart TV (Pandora, Amazon music, etc.) to the Zone 2 speakers. The TV only outputs through the Optical Sound cable or HDMI/ARC, neither of which is analog. I ran an HDMI cable from the HDMI/ARC port as the input to the Easycel and RCA jacks as output from Easycel to the Onkyo receiver.I tried this with the Pandora app, and it worked fine. I then tried the Amazon Music app (as well as other apps) and ran into a problem. The Zone 2 speaker output was a very loud static sound. I went back to the Amazon.com page for the Easycel and noticed this advice: "If you are using stereo R/ L or 3.5mm jack output to your audio receiver, please set your audio source(such as your TV) to PCM/ LPCM. This unit can not support 5.1 or 7.1 audio via stero R/ L or 3.5mm jack output."I then looked up the sound setting for Amazon Music on my Smart TV and it was set to PCM for Pandora, but the Amazon Music app was set to Dolby Digital. I changed Amazon Music to PCM, and it worked fine- no static. This is a much cheaper solution than buying a new receiver.

does not work
I would like some feedback before returning this item. I am trying to use my Sennheiser model TR-135 headphones with the output on a Samsung 55 inch QLED-4K smart TV. I am Using the audio out fiber optic cable from the TV to the Easycel input. Then using the output RCA jacks on the Easycel to my headphones .I have tried everything and get no sound on the headphones. Please advise asap as I am returning the Easycel if I receive no response. Thank you, John

HDMI ARC function didn't work
HDMI ARC is supposed to adjust the volume of your device to the speaker system. All this did was feed the audio to speaker system. It did not adjust the volume nor when the mute button on remote was activated, it did not mute the audio. Returning for full refund. Make in China of course.

Easy instructions
Easy instructions, be sure you turn the dip switch to the correct setting. We have a Harman/Kardon sound bar that was analog and we purchased a new TV. This adaptor worked perfectly.
