Crystallized Ginger by D'Allesandro, 5 LB Bag

First a couple of superfluous things: the bag is very heavy duty and the ziplock closure works well, air-tight and durable for many uses. I have 5-7 pieces 1-2 per day so it is opened and closed a lot, holds up very well. So far as the ginger: both bags I have gotten now have been fresh or fresh enough, certainly more fresh than what I had been getting from either packages at the grocery store or bulk foods at the store. There is quite a variety of sizes to the pieces, some quite large, 3 inches or so, some barely flakes, but overall most are "bite-sized" for this product. I have run across a few very stringy pieces but far fewer than I encountered from the grocery store, again, both package and bulk included. Let me say this, "I hate shopping." Well, detest and despise might be better. So little is hated even more than going to the store to re-plenish my ginger pieces from the bulk foods and finding either they are out or there are only a couple of pieces left in a heap of sugar, or going for packages of only a serving or two per package with all that packaging waste. The ginger itself seems to have a mild bite, less than some I have gotten (the stuff I got at a health foods store could be better sold as fire-sticks), more than some (grocery store packages which are more like sugar coated gummy bears), so provide a nice snack of self-limiting size. I will continue to purchase this product and am quite happy with it.

Very hard to find good crystalized ginger in stores. Usually $2.77 for 2 tbls. This is terrific. Good flavor and quality and soft enough to dice easily.

I really enjoy candied Ginger. It not only tastes great, but it noticeably helps with nausea and is supposed to be great for digestion. This brand is especially excellent. I have tried a few different brands off of Amazon and not all were so good. This one has a perfect blend of sweet and that ginger 'bite.' Klein's 10 oz. tubs I thought were too sweet, but I did eat it all eventually. Reed's 3.5 oz bags and Roland's 6lb can I just can't eat. They're way too much - super strong and - just very different from Angelina's. It may work for baking, but I don't cook with ginger generally. This ginger from Angelina's is so good I've bought it 3 times now because of the taste and because of how it helps with nausea. I also enjoyed the stuff from sweet gourmet (16oz).

I normally buy another brand, but it's unavailable; corona epidemic. This one is a good substitute, but costs three dollars more.95% of the ginger chunks and slices in this five pound bag are terrific; tender, chewy. Some of the thinnest are harder, but still very edible.The bag it came in was very thick, sturdy, resealable plastic. I'm really happy with this.It is grown in Thailand. It does contain sulpher dioxide which doesn't bother me.I would definitely buy this brand, from this seller again.I eat a couple slices after meals. I've taken zantac for nearly 30 years for severe acid reflux disease. Spent hundreds of nights sleeping sitting up to keep stomach acid from coming up. I couldn't even bend over without acid into my esophagus. My whole life revolved around reflux and its effects on my activities.I really wish I'd known that ginger is not an old wives tale, or wishful internet cure. Crystalized, or fresh ginger chunks/slices stimulate bile production which takes care of excess acid and it does. It really does! I feel like I discovered a miracle drug and I'm always the most cynical person in the room.Thirty years of misery with daily doses of a morning Prilosec, coupled with Zantac throughout the day barely kept it under control and all I had to do instead was eat ginger. So much money and poor health could have been saved.This stuff has changed my life. I haven't needed zantac since I found crystallized ginger back last October.

We have been very impressed beginning from how quickly it was processed and shipped to us. It is very good quality ginger and has done wonders in settling an upset stomach. An upset stomach that other gingers have not had the great resultstate, allowing me to sleep or function without the problems from my stomach. The ginger has a flavorful ginger taste - not over powering yet strong enough to deliver satisfying taste. I intend to incorporate it into my cooking. I first experienced this kind of candy at a local health food store. It was a Reed's product and sold over the counter at $3.75 for 3.5 ounces. I never even looked at the price the 1st time I bought them and after one try I was addicted and eating 1 bag then 2 in a single day. Well needless to say it was getting expensive so naturally I came to Amazon to see if I could find Reed's here and save some money. Well yes Reed's is here on Amazon but the prices is not much better than it is locally. I then started searching for other sellers of the same type pf product and I came across the Oh! Nuts offering. A hefty 5 pound bag for a considerable savings per ounce. I always look a gift horse in the mouth as the saying goes and read all of the reviews and decided to give it a try, I am quite happy I did, the only difference between the costlier Reed's and the Oh! Nuts is the shape of ginger bits. The Oh! Nuts actually look like Potato Chips to me while the Reed's are dimensional blocks.

1. Flavor and zing are fair. 2. size, color, thickness and texture of individual pieces is very inconsistent. some pieces are long, thin and leathery and some are smaller, rounder and more chewy. some are light, kind of yellow /white and some are more yellow / translucent. 3. the product is not stale or old, but i wouldn't say the freshest of fresh. 4. my cost was about $6.77 / lb. which is not really a savings over what i can get the product @ local markets. 5. medium value for the money but i will be trying other brands for sure.

I was very pleased with this product and will definitely buy it again.
